Kishi has said in the past, that he is bad at drawing female characters. Well, i disagree. He is pretty good at it.
I love the naruto series, but the lack of strong female characters in the spotlight, is starting to annoy me.

Did i forgot anyone important?
I maybe forgot like 2 or 3 or so, but their role is probably so small(like Hanabi or that swordgirl in Omoi his team), that it wouldnt change the point of this thread.

So after my sort of a rant
, I would like to suggest the following:
There seems to be a severe lack of important Kunoichi's.
So lets come up with some female character(s) or our own.
We will use the following format.

I love the naruto series, but the lack of strong female characters in the spotlight, is starting to annoy me.

Characters:
Sakura.
Sakura was suppose to be the heroine.
I think we can all agree that she doesnt succeed in that role.
Even though she has been trained personally by Tsunade, Sakura is just not outstanding at all.
She had her moment vs Sasori, together with Chiyo, but that was more or less the end of her in the spotlights.
Kakashi mentioned that Sakura has talent in the area of genjutsu, but apart from seeing through some fodder genjutsus, we havent seen her use or develop that talent further.
Shizune.
Apprentice of the legendary sannin Tsunade, yet she has had almost no screentime at all.
Such a shame, because she has showed some cool jutsus with the hidden needles on her pols
and poison breath jutsus. Is a medic as well. Has a funny pig named Tonton.
Mei.
Among the two female kage. Badass introduction with the double kekkei genkai, lava and boil.
Some while later, degraded to fodder among the kage. Lot of unused potential in this character.
Hinata.
More of a heroine than Sakura. Some anime fillers were dedicated to her, in which she develops her own offensive and defensive styles. However, these are fillers, so i wont count them. Has an underdog role and lot of fans.
Seems popular in pols. Has always loved naruto and confessed her love eventually as well.
But as a kunoichi(abilities, jutsus etc) has been given to little in upgrades.
Kurenai.
Has shown some genjutsu abilities. Some anime fillers were dedicated to her, which i wont count.
Has been given very little screentime. Lover of Asuma. Mother of their child.
Chiyo.
Short amount of screentime and killed off quickly. However she was awesome during that time.
Able to seal Bijous in jincs. Had a major role in the war. Medic. Puppeteer. Had a vital role in defeating Sasori.
Was capable of reviving a death person back to life, by exchange of her own (without rinnegan).
Funny character as well.
Tsunade.
Maybe the only female (together with Chiyo, although her time was short), that is a force to be reckoned with.
Has some unique jutsus. She can send her electric energy into an opponent, messing up their nervous system (as shown on kabuto, when he wanted to move his hand, his leg moved).
Incredible healing power, with the yinseal on her forehead and her byakugo jutsu, a jutsu that grants her some sort of immortality (unless her head gets chopped off i assume). Has been shown to have incredible healing power on others as well. She healed Lee's injuries for example and now she will save the other kages.
Konan.
Yeah she showed some powerful paper bomb jutsus vs Obito (which she had prepared before hand + intel, but still pretty good to force him into izanagi). But apart from that fight, she didnt really do much awesome. Jiraiya fodderized her with an oil jutsu.
Karin.
Sasuke fangirl. Actually one of the few important and special kunoichi's.
She is an uzumaki with great sensing capabilities and great healing power, which is applied to a target by biting her (learn some healing jutsus please). She can hide her chakra.
Other female characters:
Samui.
Big boobies. Got sucked up in a guard. Shown zero jutsus.
Short amount of screentime killed off quickly.
Tenten.
Throws weapons with accuracy and thats it.
Been around since the start of the series and has shown zero development.
Mabui.
Raikage assistant. Can do a FTG type of jutsu on objects.
Hasnt been given any more screentime.
Moegi.
Fodder girl in Team Ebisu. Dat hair...
Ino.
Shintenshin no jutsu! Yeah...
Temari.
Introduced as a powerful female winduser with her fan. Older sister of gaara.
Quite some time later, degraded to fodder.
Mito.
Former jinc of Kurama and an uzumaki. She was able to sense hostile emotions. To little is known about her.
Kushina.
Mom of Naruto. Former Jinc of Kurama and an uzumaki. A kind woman, with a short temper. Tsunade mentioned how her ninjutsu style is similar to naruto, however, we have seen more or less nothing of that style.
Anko.
Walks almost naked amongs children. Fishnet seethrough shirt with no bra + open jacket.
Oro's apparentice(because of her clothing style.. *cough cough* i mean talent) and able to use snake jutsus. Apparently capable of a suicide technique, in which her opponent dies as well. Another character with lot of unused potential.
Kurotsuchi.
Tsuchikages granddaughter. She can do lava style and water jutsus, to form quick dry cement. A pretty cool move. However, another character who has been given to little screentime, for the potential she has.
Yugito Nii(2tails jinc) and Fuu(7tails jinc).
Jincs. More or less the only screentime they had, was when they were part of the six paths of obito.
Rin.
The female member of Team Minato.
A medic, but unable to do anything else it seems. Her death caused a lot of happenings in the series.
Who knows, more will probably be revealed about her soon.

If...
If Kabuto would have been a female for example, that would have given one awesome character, or one of the males akatsuki members, having been female. Female Sasori, female Kisame? Female Deidara? Now that would have made for some awesome kunochi(s).

Earth mainly for defensive techniques and water for offense.
Uses the waterclone jutsu, in combination with the water prison technique, to trap targets.
Sealing jutsu:
She is capable of several strong uzumaki sealing jutsus,
taught to her by her father and mother.
Medical jutsu:
She uses her medical ninjutsu in combination with her earth affinity, which allows her to heal targets from long range, by sending her chakra through the earth. Being a hunternin, she has great knowledge of the human body and in her arsenal are several offensive medical based jutsu as well.

Next to being able to sense chakra, Uzumaki Yasuko, can sense all types of emotions of people. Not only hostile ones.
Background story:
Her parents fled during the destruction of Uzushiogakure to Kirigakure. Yasuko has been born in Kirigakure.
She became an orphan during the third shinobi world war. She still doesnt know for sure what happened to her parents but after thorough investigation, she suspects they have been used for some kind of experiments in Kirigakure itself. She has left the village and is classified as a missing-nin.
