Kunai over sword

Most ninja anime/manga I have seen or seen pictures of involve the ninja using swords. But, why do a lot of the Narutoverse shinobi use kunai over swords?

I know that you do have characters like Sasuke and Sai that often use their swords. However, I think it is more effective in battle to use a sword.


Unless Kishi is worried that kids are going to use swords (which is funny because other shounen use swords frequently)

Yes, but wouldn't be nice to see Naruto with a sword? I think it would be awesome to have a sword in a mode that has him perfecting his Sage Mode (that is, his Toad Sage Mode's equivalent of Kabuto's dragon form) with TB Mode. That is, Sage TB Mode.

Just cause Kunai looks cooler than swords in some cases, like kakashi..

Ninjas traditionally use both/all. They are proficient in many tools.
Swords are for close combat, shurikens kunais are for ranged. Now samurais use swords only.

Imo, swords don't suit some characters at all.

Kunai is more practical for carrying, throwing, blocking attacks, it can even be used in a sword-ish way...Sword might be stronger, but kunai has more usages. You can not throw a sword for attack or carry bunch of them in a weapon pouch.

i believe its more to do with a ninjas battle style as with a kunai you can use it in close range as well as throw it for long range but with a sword your less likely to through a it

I think it would be nice that when it comes to the decisive battle between Naruto and Obito (The scum that tried to kill Naruto and his parents when Naruto was born I think would make it extremely personal where it's just Obito/the Gedo Mazo statue vs. the hero/his pooch), our hero uses a sword.
