Hello once again everybody and welcome back to another theory for your entertainment. This time I will be tackling the origins of Koshiro, Kuina, Tashigi and Koshiro's wife. Make sure to check these two theories below as those and this theory here are connected to each other.
(removed to avoid an unfair infraction)

Lets go over a couple of things we know so far in order to establish a basis.
-Koshiro was a vicious swordsman in his youth. He settled down AFTER his wife died.
-Zoro is 21, Kuina would've been 22 and Tashigi is 23
-When Kuina died, Zoro was 10, Kuina was 11 and Tashigi was 12
-the mother has been dead for 11 years at least
-Tashigi and Kuina look alike and they're styles are similar
-Tashigi doesn't know she has a sister
-Kuina thought she couldn't compete with men
-Tashigi believes she very well can compete with men
-Tashigi is named after the Snipe, a bird that CAN fly but its flight pattern is sloppy and irregular. Its a metaphor to how Tashigi's journey is filled with a lot of hardship and obstacles.
-Kuina is named after the Ralliade, another bird that can fly but it can only fly for a short time. Its a metaphor to how Kuina was gifted in swordsmanship but thought her path would come to a halt because is inferior to men.
-Kuina and Tashigi are opposite in personality. Tashigi is reserved and modest and Kuina is spunky is very tomboyish.

With this, I can say that Kuina and Tashigi knew both of their parents, but never meet or heard about each other.

Koshiro lived in East Blue but since he is a swordsman, he traveled around a lot and his travels led to Wano. In Wano, Koshiro meet a woman who I assume was named Tsubame, who would go on to become his wife.

Why do I assume the woman's name was Tsubame?

Well for starters, if you read my theory about the 7th Shichibukai, I said his design was based off either Miyamoto Musashi or Sasaki Kojiro with a warped version of Musashi's code n' honor and characters like Zoro, Fujitora, Koshiro, Tashigi and Kuina draw inspiration from Miyamoto's rivalry with Sasaki Kojiro.

Koshiro's design is directly based off Sasaki Kojiro.

Sasaki Kojiro's ultimate technique was called the "Swallow Cut." Remember what I said about Tashigi and Kuina being named after birds that has problems with flying? The swallow has excellent, precise and elegant slight and Tsubame is means swallow in Japanese.
*******************************************************************************************************************

Koshiro and Tsubame got together and enjoyed traveling from East Blue to Wano on a regular but ultimately lived in Wano. Even though she was born in the rather sexist environment known as Wano, Tsubame was still a swordsman. Koshiro had the Wado Ichimonji and Tsubame had the Kuku Ichimonji. The two were a proud duo and developed similar fighting styles. Tsubame trained in secret when she was Wano as women aren't allowed to use swords so she cherished her time in East Blue as she could fly.

Eventually, the couple had 2 children. The first born was Tashigi 23 years ago and then Kuina a year later. They were a happy family but there was a serious problem.

Koshiro of East Blue wanted to live in Wano and Tsubame of Wano wanted to live in East Blue.

Koshiro's reason for wanting to stay in Wano was pretty straight forward. He was a warrior and living in a country of strong warriors was ideal. For Tsubame however, she preferred the more peaceful East Blue, didn't want her daughters growing up in the sexist environment of Wano and was worried for their safety.

Why was Tsubame worried? Because not too long before her fallout with Koshiro, Wano was invaded by Gekko Moriah. During that invasion, Wano was saved by another pirate group led by Kaidou. Gekko fled but stole Ryuma's corpse, which became the darkest day in Wano's history. To Tsubame, a pirate is a pirate so she didn't trust Kaidou but Koshiro didn't see a problem.

The couple split. Koshiro took Kuina and stayed in Wano. Tsubame took Tashigi and lived in East Blue.

However, Koshiro and Tsubame still loved each other and wanted to spend time with their other daughters. They created a method to spend time with their other daughters without Tashigi and Kuina meeting each other.

They wanted to keep the daughters from meeting each other because it'll make things complicated. The daughters would definitely want to stay with each other but the parents couldn't come to an agreement with their own lifestyles. They pretty much traded daughters from time to time.

Sometimes its Koshiro and Tashigi in Wano with Tsubame and Kuina in East Blue. Sometimes it was the opposite backwards OR, they probably exchange daughters only once.

Kuina spent most of her early childhood with Koshiro in Wano. Because of that, she had talent with the sword and was disciplined. Her time with Tsubame in East Blue made her spunky.

Tashigi spent most of her early childhood with Tsubame in East Blue. Because of her bad eyesight, Tsubame took it very slow with Tasihigi when teaching her the sword for self defense. When Tashigi got those rare chances to be with her father in Wano, she was fascinated by the swordsmanship of other samurais and wanted to learn more about swords. Because of her bad eyesight and being kind of sexist himself, Koshiro forbid it. Because Koshiro never did anything with Tashigi hat involved swords, Tashigi never got to see the Wado Ichimonji. Tashigi would of course sneak away to spar with the male children of Wano, but they refused because she was a girl and that pissed her off. Back in East Blue, Tashigi got a book about swords and trained herself in secret when her mother was away.

That's why Tashigi has normal clothes and a fascination of swords as a child.

*********************************************************************************************************************

This method didn't last forever of course. One day , when Tashigi was with Koshiro in Wano and Kuina was with Tsubame in East Blue, Kuina told Tsubame of a conflict that was occurring in Wano. Concerned for Tashigi and Koshiro and fearing the worst, Tsubame traveled to Wano and discovered the Wano is in chaos.

Kaidou has revealed his true Mongol colors and is trying to take Wano by force. Tsubame made her way to her old home only to find Tashigi. Koshiro has gone out to aid Wano against Kaidou.

Trying to find Koshiro and escape, Tsubame and Tashigi was ambushed by the man who became the 7th Shichibukai. The 7th betrayed Wano and is after strong swords and his current targets were the Wado and Kuku Ichimonji.

Tsubame was killed by the 7th Shichibukai and he stole the Kuku Ichimonji. Koshiro arrived just a little bit too late and was devastated. Despite seeing everything, Tashigi couldn't see the 7th's face but she knew he was a bad guy.

Since she didn't know his face and her undying love of swords, Tashigi vowed to avenged her mother by retrieving all the legendary swords from the bad guys. Koshiro tried to talk Tashigi out of it by saying she was a girl but she didn't care and made up her mind. Tashigi wanted to become a marine.

Unable to deny Tashigi's resolve, Koshiro brought Tashigi back to the East Blue where he handed her over to the marines, where she has been with ever since. Koshiro returned to his and Tsubame's home in East Blue to tell Kuina that her mother has passed away.

Filled with regret, Koshiro realized that Tsubame was right all along and they should've stayed in East Blue. Koshrio settled down, lived with Kuina in East Blue and became overprotective of her. He feared that because she was a girl, she would meet the same fate as Tsubame if she pursued swordsmanship. Koshiro purposely told Kuina that she could only go so far because she was girl in an attempt to demoralize her.

As you know, Kuina died by "falling down some stairs." Oda himself said this so stairs killed her right? Wrong.

Did you guys know that in Japan, the term "falling down some stairs" is just an expression for someone who was met with a terrible fate?

Kuina was murdered by the 7th Shichibukai who tracked Koshiro down to East Blue seeking the Wado Ichimonji. He killed Kuina, but failed to get the sword as Koshiro chased him off. The next day, Koshiro lied to Zoro about Kuina's fate because he didn't want Zoro's path to be consumed by revenge like Tashigi.

Was Kuina's age ever confirmed? All what we know iirc is that she was older than Zoro, so for all we know she could have been the big sister. Other than that, solid theory

She was 11 when she died. She died shortly after hitting puberty and woman hit puberty when they are 11. For guys it 13.

I m happy to see that you didn't made koshiro a seventh shichibukai like others are making.
Koshiro is the 7th, he killed Kuina, tashigi and kuina are the same, kuina is alive SHUT UP!! Geez the freaking author said Kuina is dead and not coming back and Koshiro has no reason to kill his own daughter. That alpha theory inspired the wrong people and has more holes than swiss cheese...

Everytime you make a theory, you make random stuff up and then represent it as fact.

Where do I begin with this ironic statement that lacks competence?

You claim that I'm making stuff and presenting them as fact.....in a theory...yeah uh huh. I think you need to learn what a theory is. You are also claiming that statement as a fact when its something you made up. You also said in another theory of mine that Zephyr isn't canon and presented it as fact when in actuality, he is canon. Him returning is what is not canon.
