Why does it seem like everybody hates on this guy? He seems like he'll be a great ninja. Is it just because he idolizes Naruto, and acts like him?

Maybe he and his team (Udon and Moegi) will become really strong Just like Team 7. He is ofcourse a descendant of the Sarutobi clan. Who knows, maybe Udon and Moegi has hidden talents.

No he didn't... this has been proved over and over again... Naruto taught it to him before he left with Jairaya, so he had nearly 3 years to get it right.

Konohamaru as a kid was as foolish & ignorant as Naruto was when he was a kid. But during the Shippuden, he too grew up to be as smart & quick-minded as Naruto in his Shippuden age. You can clearly see Konohamaru's brave & sharp act when he ran to face one of the Pein's descend
