Konoha not using Hyugas potential.

1. Hyugas as organ for maintaining peace in Konoha.

Who needs cameras, spying spyglass (like ANBU was using), crystal balls ( Like Hiruzen was using) when you have Hyugas and their amazing Byakugan. With 360 ,telescopic x ray vision they can see everything that is happening in Konoha. Walls are not obstacles to them. Their Byakugan would be perfect tool to keep order in Konoha.

2. Hyugas as medical ninjas

Medical ninjutsu need great chakra control,something every Hyuga has thanks to their Gentle Fist KKG (or ability if you want).So they are perfect for this job.

Now what is important is their Byakugan x ray insight. You can´t heal something if you don´t understand with what you are dealing and how that works. Through history people desperately tried to understand how human body works. They started to study corpses to understand those things better. Also the problem is when person dies his organs stop working so people did all kind of research on living humans just to understand all secrets about human body.

With necessary prior knowledge and their x ray insight and they will be able to have full understanding of how our body works and they can see exactly what is happening inside of someone and see where is problem with someones health and gave them necessary medical treatment .

3. Hyugas as watchmen on city walls

This is also job where Hyugas would be great. Their telescopic x ray vision can see many kilometers away. They can keep track what is happening around Konoha, in all those forests that surround Konoha. They can see traps or ambushes enemy is preparing. Also they can alarm others in time if someone is preparing invasion on Konoha and give enough time to prepare city defense and evacuate civilians.

If I may...

Some of the Hyugga clan may be a medical ninja. But not all of them have the Byakugan, and they need to train to awaken it. The Hyuuga are mostly taijutsu style fighters, they are generally not as great at ninjutsu based attack. Sure Gentle Fist would take a great deal of chakra control, but it simply isn't the kind of chakra control fit for medical ninjutsu. An artist might have the hand as study as a surgeon, but it doesn't mean that artist can perform. Medical Ninjutsu is about applying your knowledge you've gain to save the person life. Sure the byakugan can obtain knowledge easily, but applying it is tricky. Hell Chiyo, a poison expert could see Sasori's poiosn in Kankuro, but couldn't apply the knowledge nessecary. Neji seems to be one of the greater Hyugga, and he had pretty advanced chakra control, however he lacks the feat to change his chakra nature and also the mystical palm require that the medic apply their chakra to match the person wound. Which is why all aspects of chakra control should be refined to perfection.

But Im sure a few of them might be great candidates, they won't surpass Shizune though. Maybe Ino level (which is above normal). Medics like Sakura and Tsunade are extremely rare.​

and yes Neji is an elite but there are also other elites in the clan

everyone of the known others are literally Jounin

if Neji was still alive he might've been the clan head if there was reform, unless Hanabi currently is some uber elite



Neji lacks pure byakugans though and we even saw this in Naruto were Hinata's byakugan range was greater then Neji

while Neji at a young age mastered more GF techs
