but he can only create clones and kawarimi with his clay but konan can tear herself apart
their abilities are close but konan being able to tear herself apart changes a lot of things

konan is much more agile, more versatile when flying. I dont think deidara will be able to catch her in any of his bombs. and if you saw konan faught the flames of jiraiya her papers can be as tough as stone or soft as feather depending on the condition. as shino's father said in the anime, she can use her disadvantage(paper's weakness to elements) to become her advantage.

The manga makes it very clear that sasuke was not affected by it because of the fact he could see the chakra cloud.

Konan is one of the weakest akatsuki members, while one of the strongest kunoichi. Outside of the technique that took years to prep, she has never shown or done anything impressive to any noteworthy adversary. Jiraiya beat her very quick and in the cannon manga, she never overpowers his fire technique with paper.

Pain is the strongest akatsuki, no doubt, but konan is one of the weakest.

see when he ran he haven't see the chakra cloud yet until it bursts..

if konan is in that situation POSSIBLY she might think of the same aswell coz obviously deidara's jutsu are bombs and that big one just indicates its a big BLAST.. now seeing that konan can transform to paper and can quickly fly, she can outrun it with ease..

the only problem here if she goes back at ground zero she might inhale those micro bombs.lol

but if konan happens to know about deidara's c4 then she will had a bigger chances of winning...
