Gaara has ability to manipulate sand. Here sand is not 'Earth Release'. I think the OP is confusing sand with Earth Element.

Every person has chakra that has an affinity towards one of the five elements - Fire, Wind, Earth, Water and Lightning.

A person with an affinity for a particular element can learn to transform his chakra nature into that type - this is called nature transformation. This means Sasuke who has affinity to Fire Element, can turn transform his chakra into fire enabling him to use Fire Release jutsu. He has to learn this nature transformation by practicing, anyway. And if you don't have affinity towards an element, it is very difficult to learn that Element Release jutsu. that is, Sasuke simply cannot learn Water release jutsu, for example.

So we can safely say Konan is manipulating paper. Her chakra nature style is not known.

Dude u have just slightly contradicted urself by saying sasuke cannot learn water techniques because he has a primary affinaty to fire. but this is obviously false because there are characters who CAN use both water and fire even though they are opposites.

+ gaara has to use earth somewhere because how could he make his chakra sand? if he put his chakra into the earth that wouldnt make sand it would just make an awkwardly powered up rock with no use. He must use earth to grind up the ground to make his sand then put chakra into it so he can control it better.

In my opinion way too many people underrate Konan's abilities. They think just because her techniques revolve around paper that they're useless or harmless. Seriously, get real. This is a world where hair can be used to puncture large metal containers and hold down giant crabs. And people think paper is useless when people can manipulate their damn hair to become as hard as steel?

Konan's paper techniques are wonderfully unique and versatile. It's a shame Kishi didn't expose her more than he did.

Cool as Konan may be, paper doesn't scream deadly ability to me until she busted out with the sea of exploding paper tags. I think Kishi just got obssesed with making characters whose fighting styles revolve around art. Sasori,Deidara, Konan and Sai. Though I got to admit, Konan's abilities make a little more sense than Sai's ink drawings coming to life and attacking people.

Actually if u read his post ul see that he said SASUKE SIMPLY CANNOT LEARN WATER, yes i may have a assumed a bit to much when i replied about it being opposite elements n shizz, but he did say that sasuke couldnt learn it when it is obvious that he could if he wanted to
