It's not a matter of wheter or not lee can take it.

It's wether or not, Konohamaru can even land it on lee.

And konohmaru stands no chance against gates.

We underestimate it because of gaara's dense sand armor

Its doesnt mettr that lee use gates or not. His base speed is too much 4 konohamaru. Plus is taijutsu is very strong without gates also. And u forget about his drunken fist. Its killer move. Konohamaru doesnt stand a chance.

Konohamaru could use Tajū Kage Bunshin, Ash Pile Burning, Shuriken Shadow Clone, Rasengan and Odama Rasengan(self-taught)...and he probably as smart as Chunin Exam Arc's Naruto, he even defeat Naruto in Chunin exam :scorps:
