Is the anime supposed to catch up with the books? Or will it stay in the past and not redo the manga? I know they did gaiden and stuff like the chunin exams but like, it seems like it doesn't touch much on what the manga does.

This one could be the Otsu that gave Kawaki his mark but i am also under the impression that Momoshiki and Kinshiki fusion is very similar to this guy and the idea is left in the air that Kinshiki actually absorbed another Otsu before.

Anyway, Kawaki and Urashiki seem to share the same weapon btw..

Arc is different than OVA . they showed us a cover and hyped urashiki WHICH WAS DRAWN AND CREATED BY KISHI HIMSELF. stop the bait we both know it's canon

No bait and if you feel baited, that is your insecurity talking. As for it being canon, i am not even convinced that 20% of the anime is, let along this Urashiki filler arc that is incoming.

It will be exactly like Indra and Ashura arc which was filler.

It is really a useless concept to be honest. We use it mainly to get 123fire attention.

Canon events/characters usually appear in the original story. The authors also can specifically state that an event or character is canon but it needs to be mentioned as it. If the Manga leads in the story (future) it is considered as the canon reference, if the anime leads, then this last one is the reference.

It might also happen that the anime is a completely different story.

For example, Iwabee and Denki at this moment in time are filler characters.

To be honest, I agree with what you said earlier: Filler vs Canon is just about a useless concept. About the field trip arc though, I'd say we might as well go with option number 1 and consider everything about the field trip canon.

It's not like the manga is going to retcon the events of the field trip arc (it most likely won't), so then what is the point of disregarding the anime's rendition of the field trip?

I'm hoping the anime doesn't stop revamping the story here. It would be a bit boring to see the same story for the third time, but the more they try to change it , the more I'll be interested. I'm still not fully sure how they'll incorporate Boruto cheating when they've been actively portraying him as a prodigy. I'm at the very least hoping for an explanation. Maybe the pressure of being a prodigy pushes him to do it, I don't know.
