Kobes constant ball hoging is the reason the lakers are the worst team in the west tho dhoward aint doing **** either
It's Kobe's ego that always gets in the way. The only way he wants to win is of they play his style. D'antoni has a big ego as well. If the ball would run through Nash and the big men, they would've been great. PnR with Nash and Gasol, Gasol hints at rolling, which drags Howard's defender towards, gives him inside position, Nash dumps it to Gasol, he oops it to Howard. I've seen them do it a couple of times, but not enough. Of course, they can't run the play all the time, but you get the idea.
Kobe's field goal percentage has been slowly, but surely dipping throughout the season as well. Now he's become the same inefficient player that he's always been
I actually disagree with a lot of this. Can't blame a guy who is dishing out 8 assists almost every single game who has always been a scorer first a ball hog. Every game I watch the Lakers play, Kobe is the only one who acts like he truly wants the ball and wants to do something with it. Gasol is a punk... plain and simple, he's soft. While I admit he's good and a needed piece for the Lakers, he's still soft. Howard isn't 100 percent and he's being taken advantage of. Centers on other squads have been playing him hard down-low and fouling him hard so that he has to shoot free throws in order to score.
Funny thing is, Kobe's FGP has been going down because he hasn't been shooting as much and has been making less of his shots. He forces passing so much these days that it's difficult for even him to get back into a scoring rhythm, yet he seems to score buckets when it's needed in close games.
By the way, the Lakers attempted to run the offense through Nash, but it didn't work. Nash is at a HUGE disadvantage when it comes to playing things young, talented Point Guards such as Westbrook, Curry, etc... he's having a hard time guarding them and getting past them. Howard normally has a tough time scoring down-low due to the way teams have started playing him as well. And Pau, that dude makes the most idiotic mental mistakes. I've seen shot selections from Pau at times that were more questionable than shot selections made my MWP. Smh.
Hard for me to watch as a Lakers fan but as an athlete I know that it's going to take time in order for this squad to really click. That is if Howard chooses to resign. If he does, next year for the Lakers will be much easier. The Lakers actually remind me of my Baltimore Ravens. Injuries have prevented all of the started to truly get that much valuable practice in with one another or time playing on the court together.
You're right on a couple of points. But this is something that Kobe should've added to his game a long time ago. He can't blame his inefficiency because he's passing more now, especially since he's never really been an efficient player. I agree that the Lakers would be better, if all of them could get some playing time together. But I don't think they have a shot at winning anything. They're just too old and too slow to contend with OKC, Clippers, GSW and Spurs, teams that are a lot quicker, and can match them at almost every position. Hell, they would struggle against the Rockets as well
You can say that, but honestly, as a Lakers fan, I can see that this Lakers team isn't really that good. Yes, maybe he has had inefficiency but at the same time, what players in this era have made more shots than Kobe Bryant? When you have sub-par players on your team as Kobe does at the moment who cannot create their own shots and you have to go from being a prolific scorer to a Facilitator 24/7 you're going to be inefficient because you're being taken out of rhythm.
Kobe has to facilitate in order for this Lakers team to win games. In Miami you have SEVERAL players who can create their own shots. Same with the Rockets, GSW, Spurs, OKC, etc... any of the other leagues best teams. Dwight cannot truly create his own shot, especially not at this moment with him not being healthy. Nash obviously isn't as young as he used to be, it's difficult for him to keep up with the younger PG's. But I agree with you 100% when it comes to our chances of winning anything. What I'm defending to be on topic is it's not Kobe's fault because he's played great, and he's definitely not a ballhog. Hasn't been since he's changed that jersey number to 24.
