Knobkerrie is the titile of a web comic that I'm still developing.

The Story

This is a story about a boy (14) named El who is spit on by an ancient trickster god Eshu, while sitting atop the holy tree Mawi. The spit from Eshu curses El, bringing him constant misfortune. His parents are killed and he is shunned throughout his village as a bringer of calamity. But, it's not all bad. El has a girl that's very special to him, named Kokumo (12) who is picked on a lot, but is often rescued by El. One day while picking berries outside the village, El sees a strange hooded man with a crow mask abduct Kokumo. El gives chase but the masked man flys away. That is where the story truly begins.

Here are some of the sketches I've done so far for some of the main character designs.

These are all sketches for the main character El. I still haven't decided on a direction yet.

These are some sketches of Eshu, still haven't figured out if he should have horns or not. And, if he does, wether those horns should be asymmetrical or symmetrical. I have a feeling he's going to have a lot of costume changes, and some of them will probably end up being very elaborate.

Anyways that's all for today. I'll post a more serious synopsis of the first arc of the story and more art as I delve deeper into the character designs. As you can see, I took a lot of inspiration from african folklore and culture.

Nearly year old thread, I know, but hey I'm still working on it. I'd like to just keep posting what I do here, but if everyone would prefer I can make new threads when I have new sketches/panels to post.

So, I finally got around to a colored version of El. He's gone through some changes. I'm still working on a good coloring style for this that will be quick enough for weeklies.
