Personally I like it. It's fitting for the manga to have epic world changing battles at its conclusion. We are talking about legendary ninjas here.

Leave the cute little ninja techs for fodder

What exactly is ninja-ish about Kamui, or mountain slicing swords, or destroying someone until they are only molecules?
Nothing? None of that even fits in with the concept of ninjas. Then why is it fitting for this manga to end with like that?

I agree with you. I would be happy with the story 100% if Madara was never created (I love the story 90%). But I guess that's how powerscaling works. You have a ninjutsu so I develop Rasengan. You beat that so I use rasenshuriken. You beat that so I use Tailed Beast Bomb. You beat that I use Yang-Chakra Shinobi Alliance Rasen Atomic-powered Heaven's Toothpick and that is the end of the series. The way these combat stories work are: to beat the newest enemy you need to get stronger. Simple as that. I wish it could've been toned down and more about the skill of using justu than using the biggest bomb you possibly can. Itachi's Izanami comes to mind of being a good strategy battle rather than power.

Naruto's powerscaling is excellent. In fact it is one of the things I like about it the most because it's fleshed out so well.

There's just no comparison between Naruto and Dragon Ball. In Dragon Ball, whoever was fighting two volumes before is certainly outmatched by lightyears in the volume you're reading, and that guy was already overpowered in comparison to everyone else two volumes ago. In Dragon Ball everything stops being relevant after a very short time - Piccolo reuniting with Kami after eons living as separate beings, only to find himself overpowered the volume after and out of the league of relevant fighters since then. The whole Freezer saga builds up to the awakening of the legendary super saiyan, which then stops being anything legendary or unique the series after that.

As much as I loved Dragon Ball as a kid, and Saint Seiya, these two were a disgrace to storytelling. It was a disaster. It wrecked any credibility that shonen manga had after Fist of the North Star. It all got about something overpowered that trumps something that was already overpowered only to be trumped afterwards by something even worse.

Compared to these, modern shonen manga do better work by far, not only Naruto but also One Piece, Bleach, Soul Eater (I don't know Fairy Tail or Tutor Hitman Reborn enough to say if it is the same), and even the Saint Seiya gaiden(s). It is not as guaranteed that someone showing up in the first episodes is automatically outpowered nowadays, Kakashi, Tsunade, Hiruzen, Guy, none of them had become useless fodder currently, and trust me if this was Dragon Ball they'd be useless trash by now. There's a lot more about matchups, tactics, strategy and clever use of super-powers than in most shonen of the past age.

It's true, though, that magic powers get progressively more convoluted, powerful, and common, but that's a natural. In a warring society where magic is a weapon, people are bound to seek more and more overpowered spells and abuse them or search a counter to them. In fact, the opposite would be unrealistic.

reread the whole war arc theyve been using all kinds of strategy to take down the edos
and since the beginning naruto was always crazy strong when the kyuubi took over there has to be antagonist to match that

Naruto was never really about ninja's......I mean what ninja wears orange, has blonde hair, loud, and no mask?

I think it's the better the way it is now than the way it was.

The story, the characters, action, jutsu, and design are vastly better than part 1 imo.

=D you guys, chill out a second, kishi might have mad a huge mistake in putting too much kick-ass jutsus, but come on, the series is getting exciting more and more.. and yeah, i agree, i sort of miss the old ninja aspect of naruto... =D

another guess is that kishi might be worrying of doubts that good will prevail because he's made a reallyreallypowerfulopponentconsideredasagod character, i mean, if i were a mere mortal put against an ancient person already considered a royalty, without some kick-ass jutsu up my sleeve, i would, without doubt, run like this :hyper:... watchathink?=D

It's the same thing as any other progressive story. Another manga that is the worst at what you are talking about is Dragon Ball and that seems to be the best thing ever!

I personally think that Part 2 is superior to Part 1 in every way, but that's just my opinion.

Ikr...this wat arc has been ruined to...

It had the potential to be so awesome. The Edos were hyped so much yet they were defeated so easily. Eg Hanzo + a couple others...the rest were shit Kishi brought back fodder EDO's. he had the chance to bring back people such as the Uchiha clan. Shisui, some Senju's, Kakashi dad and other hyped ninjas (from Konoha graves where they were most likely buried)

Yet we SA Defeating edo so quickly and beating the fodder Zetus easily too which just made it so shit...

I agree with you...

I miss the shrukens and kunais being effective, speed gaining through actual hard work, every ninja possibly being dangerous and ninja are being have to be sneaky.

Now there is a thing called Susanoo; just ectivating that thing provides ultimate haxx defense; and that is somewhat related to eyeballs. Or Naruto glowing; in which sense a ninja is suppose to be a light source? Right now, he does not have to care about f*cking glowing when has to engage a battle; because he is too damn op. In a mange about ninjas; the main character is the least ninjaish one; i would rather see a human fight; not a haxxed lightbulb.

Fully agree with you. I miss the part where ninja battles put more emphasis on tactics and strategy
I loved and I mean absolutely loved the strategizing in Naruto...... I really miss it....

although it is still happening in the war and every arc I think ......... it looks and feels different.....

Hopefully Madara will have to become the Juubi Jinchuriki to perform infinite Tsukuyomi.....

Hopefully ... just hopefully.. Lol

Too true. It's not about ninjas anymore. Hell, Naruto hasn't even said anything about becoming Hokage in a while. It's just the basic "I need to save the world now" with stupid explosions and some stupid scientific shit going on. Cell Saga happening all over again.

I agree to an extent, the power scaling is really bad. Manly because it came out of no where that. . Only five or six characters meant shit any more. Start of the War Arc, that is.

Something Kishi could have done is had lower leveled/powered antagonists to fight the weaker protagonists. It would even things out, and he could still do this shit.

naruto grew up.

in that sense you could also say kishi grew up.
in the sense of story writing/drawing and emotions.

ALSO to add to that, pretty much everything youve said has a good reason.

however i do agree to your view that yes in some aspects the power leveling is slightly off but like i said above,
shit changes and there is reason.

I disagree. There's been tactics still. Just because there's higher power scaling now, doesn't mean that there still can't be tactics. Let's see what happens after this arc.

Also, you should have realized that the power scale was going to go up since the fight between Naruto and Garra.
