CLONE JUTSU was the jutsu in the exam. Naruto failed at doing ANY TYPE OF CLONES whether they be genin level, or a jonin level clone.

Naruto was saying he managed to overcome his weakness, of makeing clones, by makeing a higher level jutsu(shadow clone) his signature move.

You are clearly misunderstanding the context of all of this.


edithe did say shadow clone jutsu....its a mistake, not some "head up its azz"

im pretty sure that the SUB got it right. it was probably just a mistake on the dub voice actors, that was never caught

Viz media has done the dubbing of the entire Part 1 twice.... I had one with low quality.... Then I deleted it and downloaded the other.... I realized it in a few mins that the voice actors are same but some dialogues are different.... The first version had Naruto say Believe it again and again.... In the second version he doesn't say Believe It so many times....

Well just a clarification:

1. Clone Technique:

A ninjutsu that creates an intangible copy of one's own body, without any substance. Since the clone itself doesn't have the ability to attack, and thus can only be used to confuse the enemy, it is mainly used in combination with other ninjutsu. It's a basic technique, but depending on one's ingenuity, it can be used effectively. The clones may dissipate when they come into contact with something.

These clones can be easily distinguished by persons with dōjutsu. A person with normal eyes can also distinguish the clones from the original, since the clones do not have shadows and will not disrupt the area around themselves with their movement (i.e. won't kick up dust, crush grass, etc…).

2. Shadow Clone Technique:

Similar to the Clone Technique, this technique creates clones of the user. However, these clones are actual copies, not illusions. The user's chakra is evenly distributed among every clone, giving each clone an equal fraction of the user's overall power. Graduation at the Academy exam was the simple cone jutsu that is genin level, Naruto had fail the exam 3 times He could not do it. When Naruto took the scroll a Uzumaki scroll by the way He learn the much harder Jonin level clone jutsu the shadow clone jutsu. All over the manga Naruto has an affinity with the harder jutsus that majority of people can't learn Like Rasengan, Fulton RasenShuriken. It' like Einstein had trouble with simple Math,but could explain relativity. Some people are born that way.
