He's a shinobi - they know they can die at every mission they get. Being in a war raises the chance of dying even more - especially when it's a war against enemies who have called the Juubi.
Instead of panicking and thereby losing precious time, he stayed calm, and explained his plan to the ones who can still do something to save their world.

Shinobi have to stay calm in every situation, because one mistake can be deadly. That's why he's rather stoic in that scene. There wouldn't be anything to win with panicking so he made use of the time he still had and informed the others of the plan he had formed.
