In chapter 638, hashirama openly admitted that Obito is stronger than him.

I feel this is kishimoto telling us that if this guy is stronger than hashirama [Who kishi makes to be the strongest] then Obito must be hella strong.

It's obvious that kishimoto made hashirama the strongest character [other than the sage] and uses hashirama's strenght to compare other shinobi just so we as readers can comprehend the strength of "said" shinobi.

Strongest in jutsu yes, smarts no Hashi and almost everyone but Itachi and Minato lack those things which puts them in the top ten. I also say Madara r@pes Hashi and Obito just say'n.

Hashirama is made to be the strongest because he carries the will of fire and He fights through love rather than power.

And he is also blessed with being a senju and a direct descendant of the second son.

edo madara was modified to be in his prime already handicapping hashirama right there.

I agree. kishi has made it clear on many occasions who the strongest is . Its implied thru out the story . No matter who people on naruto base put against him in vs threads ,ive always said hashi > any ninja . And hashi is not in my top 5 favorite characters .But its obvious he is that dude . People use his dna like steroids , body of sage son etc .

The only problem with that is the fact that Kishi said Prime Hiruzen is also stronger than Hashirama. Thus, I don't

Disagree here, its because Madara is not the type who humbles himself like that... He is too prideful for that... and Edo Madara with Rinnegan, Mokuton >> Edo Hashirama.

SO6P & Hashirama are the only shinobis with original/honest power/strength.
While SO6P is history, Hashirama is present on the battlefield and has always great influence on every shinobi generation.
So Kishi uses Hashirama as a scale for judging other shinobi's power.
