Homunculi die.
They create a philosophers stone by using many sacrifices, not just one person.
The homunculi were created from fathers sins, not actual people who lived before.
And they could rebel, as greed does, if they wanted to. Naruto edo has actual control not just a fake fatherly influence over them.
Basically, they aren't even similar.

It came roughly a year later. And even then I think Kishi had his own ideas for it.

At the least both of those ideas were bred in the exact same year.

Or at least explained in the exact same year....
