Lmao your source is outdated. Last year,in the entire world,was the year of SNK,thanks to it's amazing anime. This year naruto is 2nd in japan and 1st in new york times weekly for 8 weaks [volume 64] and 2 weeks[vol. 65]. Naruto was never that popular in japan,because what seems fresh concept and cool attacks to us outsiders is a rooted myth of their culture and gods name. Lmao,think how would you feel if the attack's name is jesus and the character says it everytime he uses it?
Naruto's true popularity is depicted by the fact that for almost a decade now it still reigns supreme in most popular manga in nearly every manga and anime site and has most fans be it on fb,twitter,forums,etc.

Naruto isn't as popular as One Piece or Attack on Titan when you look at manga sales because a good amount of the sales are from Japan and trust me Japan ****ing loves One piece the only thing they love just as much is Dragonball so it make sense. but if you look at Naruto popularity from the sales of the Anime, the video games and all the other merchandise Naruto is basically killing every other series, but Fanboys pay attention to the manga sales (plus it does help that most of us who are fans of Naruto don't buy manga volumes)
