How can you say the Eighth Gate is an asspull technique? Pretty sure the asspull here is the other way around, the Gokage not being able to scratch Madara even though he's supposedly "weaker" as an Edo.

No not really. That fight lasted a LONG time and while yea this is juubi madara we are talking about, Madara was still an edo when the kages fought and if you remember there were a few times where they got some hits on him but he survived because of his undying body,

And 8 gates really isn't an asspull. We've known about it since like part 1 and it was always said to be able to help a person push past the human limits. That in addition to high-speed taijutsu that we've known for a while now that Gai knows isn't really that surprising.

Plus, Gai will die after this technique. So technically he can't beat Madara. It'll end in a draw at best for him

that's the point, the Gokage haven't done anything to Madara's weaker version then there's Gai doing much more than them against Madara with the Ten Tails..

evening elephant surpasses kage level and I'm pretty sure madara hasn't seen that before so that might explain why Gai's fight interested him more

How does that make The Eight Gates Released Formation an asspull, though? It was stated before season one that it granted power greater than that of a Kage. That plus Gai's base power is pretty amazing. Also, Madara was able to make Susano'o clones as an Edo; something he can't do now. I assume he can't even use Susano'o at this point seeing as it would be a viable solution instead of leaving himself open to Gai's attacks.

Thanks! And I will say this much. I wasn't expecting Gai to be able to catch Madara off guard with such ease. I figured Kishi would give Gai a fighting chance. But I didn't think we'd see him completely overtake him like that. So in a way I can see why you feel it's an "asspull". Maybe not the fact that he used 8 gates, but just from how much it seemingly has tipped the scale in Gai's favor

No they weren't trolled. The fact that they even pushed edo madara so far was an asspull, as madara was toying with them. Even EMS madara stomps the 5 kage.
