By this I mean the name of Hashirama and Tobirama.

I mean lets just look at what Tobirama's name is:
'Doors' (扉, tobira) are seen as the access to progress and improvement which alludes to his role as the Hokage that built up Konoha's infrastructure.'扉' is also used to refer to title pages, tying in with the Hokage title, as a Hokage is as representative for the village as the title page is for a book. (Naruto -wikia)

@ Bold.. Right on point

@ Underline.. He did represent the village during the negotiation between him and 2nd Raikage xD.

Hashirama's name: (柱間) is a Japanese word referring to the space between two pillars. This might be a play on the word 'pillar' (柱, hashira), as the Hokage is said to be the pillar that supports the village. '柱' is also the counter word for gods and buddhas.

@ Bold.. literally he is the pillar why? Because its said the foundation of Konoha was made from his own wood.

@ underline.. he is a counter of SO6P or people with rinnegan which is said to be the "GOD" eye.

Now people say hey Kishimoto doesn't think things through.. But apparently he thought about their names... Kishimoto is a boss

Kishimoto you my man are one of a kind writers.

How is Hashirama the counter to the Rinnegan?

If anything his weakness is the Rinnegan.

I dont think he just jump into uncertainty when narrating something as beautiful as naruto, he might had carefully put things into consideration or drawing the character based on their persona, it helps.

I prefer "Sosuke Aizen"

OT: Yes indeedy, he is a good writer. Kishi also thought about Team Kakashi's connection to the Sannin as early as chapter 4

Madara literally means "spots".

Anyway, yeah I think Kishi did a good job especially here with these two alluding to aspects of their character through their names. I do appreciate it when writers do that kind of thing.

Plus he does have his team and etc to help him out.

Rinnegan came before Mokuton....... Rinnegan's counter is Mokuton..

Mokuton has better "controlling" properties.. It has better landscape changing properties...Look at what Hashirama's Dna is capable of..

To add to the thread, I'd like to correct you on what they meant by "counter." They don't mean it in the sense as countering against something else, but in the sense of actually counting the number of something. Japanese has that for a lot of things, such "nin" for people, "hiki" for for animals, and in the case of the thread, "hashira" for gods/buddhas. And on that note, yes, Kishimoto did think when he named them. Itama is the plank of the floor, Tobirama is the door to the temple, Hashirama is the pillars in the temple, and their father Butsuma is the Buddha in the temple (butsu meaning buddha, and the word butsuma actually meaning the part of the room in a Japanese house that has the shrine to a dead relative, where they often ring the bell and place incense, fruit, etc.) The Senju represent buddhist, "temple/house" ninja.

An interesting note is the Uchiha family (Madara, his immediate family, and the leader of Uchiha in general.) The Uchiha, as usually discussed, represent a Shinto/ distinctly Japanese aspect, from their eye techniques, to even their names. Izuna is the name of a mountain, in addition to where a similarly named tengu/cult to said tengu originated from. Madara is actually the name of a demon-god mask used in Shinto ceremonies (which may have been part of Obito's use of a mask throughout the story.) Tajima is the name of an old province in Japan, in addition to a place where major Shinto shrines are located, and a "holy pathway". Lastly, Fugaku is another name for Fuji, which is the most holy shinto mountain.

Kishimoto usually names dynamic characters a certain way for a reason.
