Kishi really messed up with Killer Bee

I feel like Killer Bee could have been a great character with lots of potential but Kishimoto really butchered him as a character.

First off i'd like to say i'm not character bashing this is from a neutral standpoint.

Debut/Role

First off his debut was pretty late. Bee was supposed to be an important character, but he wasn't introduced until pretty late into the series. I actully liked his debut, it showed how crazy powerful he was. It's weird though that such a powerful character, a perfect jinchuuriki, was never even mentioned until this late in the manga. But what really bothers me is that he isn't really necessary as a character; Obito needed the Hachibi and the Kyubi to make the Juubi complete, why not just the Kyubi? It would have put more pressure on Naruto to defeat him and made Naruto surviving be more important than ever. Bee's role was probably to be a mentor to Naruto and train him in the arts of being a jin. But why do we need that? Naruto has plenty of mentor figures in his life (Jiraiya, Kakashi, Iruka, Hiruzen, Tsunade, Minato, even Yamato) and his motto is hard work, so he could have learned to cooperate with Kurama on his own. Don't get me wrong I loved the Confining the Jinchuuriki Arc, but Kishi could have written his way around the Tailed Beast Temple training without it seeming like an asspull. If he wanted another jinchuuriki to accompany Naruto and train with him, he could have easily used Gaara: make it so that Gaara never lost his bijuu, then have him and Naruto train together! Gaara's been around since Part I, it wouldn't be an asspull like it was with Bee, who suddenly appears as this perfect jin who's even better than Naruto.

Personality

Kishi tried making Bee a 'funny' character like Suigetsu, who gives the manga some moments of comic relief (like his constant rapping or his cute conversations with his buddy the Hachibi.) Bee isn't funny. I've never cracked a smile when seeing him in the manga or the anime. He's annoying and pointless, and since he's always rapping it's hard to understand what he's saying. Believe me, it's better than a boring quiet emo personality like Itachi/Sasuke/Neji/Shino/Gaara/Kaguya but it still just doesn't do it for me.

Background

We saw a bit of Bee's background during his encounter with Ay and I'll admit some of it turned out nicely. I have a problem taking him seriously and viewing him as an actual character with depth though, since he speaks in weird rap phrases and is difficult to understand. Him and Ay have a cute little bond but to be honest Bee was never more than a jinchuuriki to me.

Current Status

Kishi suddenly decided to make Killer Bee irrelevant, for no real reason. He got sucked up by the Gedo Mazou after cutting off his tentacle but nobody paid any attenton to him or cared, even Naruto. We were left in the dark as to what happened to him for like, what, 17 chapters? Then we see a panel of him standing next to a tentacle. Okay, so he escaped the Gedo Mazou only to be caught in Infinite Tsukuyomi. What now?

true all the jins were neglected no one even puts them in the top ten lists because they are so irrelevant.

Bee was never meant to be a main character.

Kishi didn't mess up with killer bee you may not like killer bee but that s just your opinion
I don't know why that every time a person doesn't like a certain character or part of a story they call it bad writing
Other people may like that certain part of a story or character and give good reason too

It was one of Kishimoto's editors (he got replaced, recently) that was responsible for the abomination that is Killer Bee. Hopefully he dies somehow, that way Naruto can be the last Jinchuriki anyway...

Nah. Unless you want Naruto to be as long if not longer then One Piece there is no reason to do all of that, truthfully i wish alot of characters were more developed but there just isnt enough time. Kishi did what he had to, he introduced a character gave some information about there past and gave information on there goals. He then expanded on charaters that will eventually be important(IE Obito, and Hinata). Killer Bee played a major role in a portion of the series, but that doesnt mean that he needs to be a main character, it just means he played an important role in a certain part of the series. Characters like Hinata, Sakura, Karin, along with Major Villians deserve more of a role if you ask me. Sakura has basically been left behind even though Team 7 is suppose to be the equaivilent of Sannin its way unbalanced. Saskue> Orochimaru, Naruto>Jariya, but currently Sakura<Tsunade. and IMO Oro=Tsunade=Jariya. So there is alot to be said. You have to look at characer in relation to other characters. KB is not that important to really dive deep into his character or character creation. But thats just my opinion.

And your opinion is very true and I agree with it. +1 Rep

I disagree completely, killer bee is one of my favorite characters and I love his chemistry with 8 tails, who also imho is a good character. And I think he's pretty funny with the rhyming.

Who knows. Rap is popular around the world, so maybe it was meant to broaden appeal. Like you, I don't find the character humorous at all. I like the bee character, but I get annoyed at the whole enka rap dialogue. The karin suigetsu character interaction I think is far funnier.

Characters come and go, as fits kishi's development of the main character. Primarily I think bee was the jinchuriki mentor, since none of the others could relate to Naruto in that way.

Hate the rapper but not the person. Unlike the rap you see today Killer Bee's rap were a breath of fresh air.
