So many angry people its funny XD

OT: Naruto just probably received a power up from the sage is it really far fetched to say he can keep Gai alive?

isn't most of the hq named characters
and even though this is a war, most shouen mangas have all the good guys alive at the end

how can he survive? he is ****ing charcoal. He isn't coming back from that
"****ing charcoal" XD. But this dude's right, he isn't surviving. His body's about to crumble away. He'll have time for a few last words.

Why is everyone so bothered and surprised? We know what Naruto's like, characters get randomly saved from the brink of death by crazy last minute plot-powers. As annoying as that is to some people, at this point, you should expect it. So I think criticising Kishi is a little cheap; he makes a very entertaining story in my opinion, as least give him credit for that.
On the other hand I do feel your frustration... This big nasty eighth gate of doom doesn't have a massively bad consequence anymore. Although Gai is now completely charred and one of his legs is partially ash; I don't think he'll be fighting again.

Honestly, it matters little. It serves to show the extent of Naruto's power-up.

However, if Gai is able to use the gates after all that...I'll be pissed.

Actually its rare you get a single Shounen that kills any named characters, Naruto has a higher kill count than most Shounen.

You need to learn about the genre.

He's killed characters over the course of the entire manga, I notice that people only focus on the war arc's lack of deaths.

Have you forgotten about Jiraya, Itachi, Nagato, Hiruzen, Asuma, or Konan.

He's killed more good guys than in most other Shounen mangas.

Itachi was a villain turned good by plot. Plus his death was inevitable. It was set up the moment Sasuke was introduced.
Nagato was a villain turned good by plot.
Konan was a villain turned good by plot (starting too see a trend yet?)
Hiruzen was an old man and had little too no relevance to the story at the time of his death.
Asuma wasn't a huge character. His death had little to no impact on the story.

The only major character you listed was Jiraya, and yes. His death was significant. But that was a very long time ago.

I think we should wait. If I'm correct, Kishi is using this as an excuse/reason for Rock Lee to get some words in to his sensei, and Kakashi to his comrade. He'll live just long enough...

Nagato is a villain, hiruzen died in part 1, itachi is a villain, asuma was a fodder/no screen time, konan is a villain.

They WERE villains. Through the progression of the manga, Nagato, Itachi and Konan were revealed to be good people.

They way Naruto replied about feeling like he could do anything, it might mean he is going to revive the dead. I don't know how I feel about that. He never let go of Neji's death and it was his one big regret.

Kishimoto also said he wanted everyone to smile when it was over, so it implies a happy ending.

Being Hokage is of little to no relevance?

Ok

we still don't know if he is going to live. something in him already turned in ashes ..i mean wtf ... how can somebody repair that ? + maybe naruto did that just to keep him alive for more time so he can say goodbye to lee, kakashi etc.

I hope the OP and everyone else here doesn't follow this series:

Gai surviving fails in comparison to how many times people have been saved in this series from plot or asspulls

No, One Piece has more ass pulls, seriously one guy survived a huge explosion.

The characters come back from the most ridiculous things in that series.

Even the bad guys don't die in One Piece.

No. They are villains. Villains die. In their last moments they were villains.

Read One Piece, no villain dies in that series, and heroes have survived some ridiculous things.

Like I have said named character deaths are rare in Shounen.

Actually there are the comics DC and Marvel, where everyone always comes back, there are only a handful of characters in those franchises that actually stay dead.

At the time of his death, no. Being Hokage wasn't a big deal. Perhaps it wasn't so much that he was Hokage that made the significance of his death so little, but rather his age. He was an old man FAR beyond his prime. The only skill he showed off was duplicating shuriken and summoning a monkey. His death was about as guaranteed as knowing your grandparents are going too go soon.
