why not since madara did it with kurama when he summoned him

Sasuke summoned a snake, he could do that from early on part 2, so not an asspull. Just a really big snake.

Sakura trained with Tsunade she might of been getting lessons to summon slugs for healing and could only summon it with the chakra boost of her forehead seal.

I can't really call summonings an asspull, I like the idea. Plus Gamakichi grew to be a boss.

I think he is trying to put Sakura in a parallel position with Naruto and Sasuke, so when that happens, i think the Sannin thing would go alright.

Actually they aren't.

Sasuke renaming his team to Taka and becoming "good" again doesn't magically erase all the training he did with Orochimaru. That includes the the blood contract for Snakes. He can summon snakes from Ryūchi Cave, just as Naruto can summon toads from Mount Myōboku.

It's also logical that Sakura signed a contract with the slugs aswell.

I think that was the last parallels we'll see for now. There's not much else Kishi can show to make Team 7 resemble the Sannin any more than they already do.

Nonetheless, it was long overdue. The majority of us have waited since Shippuden began for the moment when the three of them surpassed their Sannin teachers.

At least Sasuke's summon is definitely not an asspull (he's summoned snakes before ffs) and Sakura's hardly qualifies, if at all. And I say this as fanboy of no characters.

A hydra covered in Susanoo would be an extremely badass thing to see btw. Even just a Snake would be quite cool. Just like Gamakichi covered in a nine tails cloak.

Exactly this. Many fans have been waiting for this moment, it isn't an asspull at all my dude ((expect maybe Sakura being able to summon slugs but tbh it isn't really because we've never seen any of her training with Tsunade so as of right now, not an asspull))

3. Naruto and Sasuke showing the same old team rivalry they used to do way back

4. The way the chapter was ending with the summonings, it felt almost like the sannin trio were back, just in new forms.

The story plot may not have developed any in this chapter, but there are more elements to a good and successful chapter than plot development. The manga needs some of these chapters aswell, in between.

yeah exactly. I was really surprised to see sasuke summon a snake when he has stated he doesn't even like them. Sakura should have summoned a different animal and sasuke should have summoned a hawk. This would make so much more sense and break them away from riding the sannin bandwagon
