Star Wars wasn't exactly the genesis of those trends either. Kishimoto drew inspiration more directly from a fellow manga, Hunter x Hunter.

I thought about this similarity, too. I saw H x H recently, and thought they copied Naruto. Well, they are very similar actually.
The scarlet eyes are the same as Rinnegan but emotional as Sharingan.
