He showed Kisame his face before Kisame joined the akatsuki and said he was Madara. Since Kisame never met Obito before he assumed that was Madara's face

I believe for a time Obito actually looked very similar to madara. When he saw rin die he already had long hair and I can see how kisame can mistake him for madara. Zesty DNA must've also made him look older

1. there was clearly a time-skip, obito no longer had the teenage long hair, when he attacked konoha, that part, could only be explained as a time-skip, its not something new in general anime/manga series


2. obito when he had long hair, did look exactly like madara uchiha, plus kisame never saw the real madara, you can't expect him to call faker on a guy who looked exactly like madara and had enough power to put a perfect jinchuuriki under genjutsu, madara's name has huge power behind it according to tsunade, and tobi used it to his advantage and simply
