Does anyone else believe that the entirety of the manga up until this point has been preparing both Naruto and Sasuke for their battle against eachother?
For starters, Naruto was the one to fight pain, a master of the rinnegan. He did this by learning and mastering Sage mode, which is the application of using senjutsu to increase the users abilities.
It is heavily implied and believed that Sasuke will obtain the rinngan, seeing as how Madara has shown the rinnegan is a natural progression of the Sharingan.
Naruto now has the skills and the know-how to defeat a rinnegan user in battle. A useful tool when fighting sasuke in the end.
Naruto has also fought Itachi briefly, and has fought alongside Itachi briefly also. During the battle against Nagato, naruto learned and updated his knowledge of the Mangekyo sharingan's powers which are, conveniently, the same powers as Sasuke's.
Sasuke, after killing Itachi, was sent after Killer Bee, one of the first Perfect Jinchuriki. Killer Bee possesses all of the skills that a perfect bijuu can have, mainly the Tailed Beast Bomb, the enhanced speed, the chakra cloak, and the full Bijuu transformation. Since sasuke fought Killer Bee, he now has more knowledge on a Perfect Jinchuriki's power than he did when first fighting Naruto at the Final Valley.
More recently, Sasuke has teamed up with Itachi to fight Kabuto. Kabuto revealed that he has mastered Sage Mode as well. By combining his dna with that of team taka, Kabuto was able to maintain sage mode indefinitely.
Conveniently, sasuke was the man to fight Kabuto, giving him information on Sage mode and possibly applications on how to fight it.
These battle give each man information on how to combat, and defend against the techniques of the other. Mainly,
Naruto- Sage Mode, Bijuu powers Fought Against:
Pain/Nagato- Rinnegan
and Itachi- Mangekyo Sharingan
Sasuke- EMS, Rinnegan(most likely soon) Fought Against:
Killer Bee- Bijuu powers
and Kabuto- Sage Mode
I also find it funny, or ironic that each character learned the basics about eachother's techniques in the opposite order in which the other man learned them. Haha. I just thought that was funny.
After re-reading, i also noticed that not only has Naruto fought a Lightning Release user (The third raikage) but Sasuke has fought a Wind Release user, (Danzo) which is strange as those are the exact elements that the other uses as well... interesting.
