...Water isn't Gaara's sand's weakness. Gaara's sand was drenched by Mei, and still no problem. GSB isn't being fired off at the same rate that the Bijuu can fire individual bombs.

Assuming you're referring to when they almost sealed edo Madara with that combo attack. Gaara didn't throw that much sand at him. They said if Madara absorbs the water, he goes numb and the sand expands. Otherwise the water tech takes him out.

When water absorbs sand, sand becomes heavy. Kisame can output much more water than Gaara can sand. Sand is hardly a factor when it can barely move.

oil and piercing attacks are his weakness.
Water isn't slowing down gaara's sand much when he could move it with gold mixed with it.
