I've read some members' posts on the here recently that claim they still believe Kisame actually identified Tobi as Madara. Based on this assumption, they conclude this creates a plothole in regard to Obito actually being Madara. Their main gripe comes from these 2 pages:
Now lets assume Kisame actually knew what Madara looked like, which isn't impossible. If so, why would he wrongly refer to another man as Madara when he clearly isn't? This is where people will claim the plothole. The answer comes from Kisame and Obito's first meeting:
The only reason Obito stepped out from the shadows is because at that moment, he knew Kisame would be a great subordinate. Kisame complains of identity issues having killed his comrades and of desiring a place to belong to. Having been molded in Madara's image so completely, Obito knew he could give Kisame just what he desires. Once Kisame learns of the plan in its whole, he finds a cause he's willing to fight for:
Kisame sees this man in front of him that is as much involved in a world of lies as he is. He's even lying about his own identity, and Kisame realizes this. This is where referring to him as Madara comes in. Kisame is convinced to follow this man and therefore follows his orders. One of those orders is to abide by his wishes to hold to the identity of Madara, which he does. Does Kisame actually know this man was Obito? Perhaps or perhaps not, the only thing that matters is that its clear he knows he's not actually Madara.
So please don't wrongly believe that when Obito took off his mask in front of Kisame that the face Kisame saw looked like that of Madara. Rather, it was the face of Obito he saw, who he nostalgically refers to as Madara as he resumes abiding by his orders.
Thanks for reading as always.
