Kirin > CT
OT: CT.
Kirin is close to being instant but its only efficient with a great amount of preparation and only against a group or single target. Chibaku Tensei will take a group, single target or a mass of people regardless without any preparation time. You cannot avoid either attack, but you can block both. You can block/stop Chibaku Tensei with a direct hit to its core, and you can block Kirin with a good enough defence. Personally, I would say that Chibaku Tensei is more lethal unless you are able to decrease the preparation time for Kirin. |
Kirin is instant death.
CT you have a small chance of escape.
Not quite. It is possible to effectively "tank" Kirin:
Whereas CT cannot be "tanked", it must be escped/destroyed. So Itachi, for example, who can counter Kirin, can't counter CT (lacks destructive power to do so). Going by that logic, CT>Kirin. You must be registered for see images.
But it depends on the scenario, of course.
It was never confirmed if Itachi lacked the offensive power to counter CT or not. He only told Killer Bee and Naruto to aim at it as well, as its better to be safe than sorry. We don't know if a Kunai is enough to destroy the core, or if a Bijuudama is enough alone. |

True, it was never confirmed.
However, in a 1v1 matchup/"debate", the argument that Itachi could have broken CT on his own is not very concrete, especially in the manner that you insisted.
1) "Better safe than sorry" is speculation. He could've just as well known he wouldn't have been able to do it on his own.
2) If it didn't require destructive power, then why didn't he Amaterasu the core? Asked them all to throw kunais? Pierce it with Totsuka?
The way it went down indicates that there was more of a chance that he couldn't do it on his own then that he could. Even more so if we're talking about an alive Itachi.
My point though was that CT requires escape or destruction, whereas "tanking" can also be used as a means to counter Kirin. Both have their advantages depending on the scenario.
Naruto did tank the CT completely using Kurama. So its possible to tank, counter or destroy it. While Kirin is only able to tank. (As dodging it would require teleportation and you cannot destroy it.) |
