Many people seem to be confused about the difference between a Lighting Bolt made by Nature and Kirin that uses Natural Energy. People are also trying to use that Legend of Kakashi cutting a lighting bolt to credit Lighting Blade on being able to destroy a Kirin in the same fashion do to this Databook entry:

A Lighting Bolt that is simply made by Nature is far less dense and powerful than Kirin. Yes, they both come from a Cumulonimbus Cloud but the difference in power comes from the power of this cloud being different for the two.
Normal Lighting comes from a Cumulonimbus cloud, but Kirin comes from a Cumulonimbus cloud with a High heat source those a Hotter and more harmful Lighting Bolt.
Kirin was Powered up by two Fire Techniques of a much highier caliber than regular heat produced in an atmosphere.

The combination of these two techs was the leading cause of Kirin unlike a regular lighting bolt created natural.

Of course it was a myth i don't even believe it cut threw a lightning bolt at all

During kakashi fight with kakuzu ,kakashi s-rank double Raikiri wasn't even able to cut threw kakuzu b rank lightning attack all it did was cancel it out

This is because he didn't want to cut it, He was just simply using it to defend them.

Kakashi wasn't using a stabbing motion, Plus he didn't build up any Speed.
