I don't think that's the case. I just so happened that I watched the ep where Kushina talks to mito on he bed. Unless its different in the manga mito didn't come to village till after it's formation - thus they probably didnt know each other till then.

Madara loves mito , mito loved hashi... and madara couldn't bear this , so he now wants to create a dream world where he lives with mito... forever...... so thats why madara picked obito... he knows obito has the same problem!!!

thanks goodness this ins't the problem with our naruto sasuke sakura trio... here the men are loving each other.... and both have rejected the woman.....
