Kenpachi will lose that uniqueness of his character. The only captain in the history of the Gotei 13 who was strong enough to be a captain without achieving Bankai. I love Kenpachi's character as a brawler, no tricky or tactical ability within the Shikai or Bankai, just raw strength through swordplay.

I agree that its his Shikai too. If it were Bankai there would have been the text box, "BANKAIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!!" Looking all black, jagged, and deranged.Also, never having one in the past and then all of a sudden having it without shikai first? The order just wouldn't be right. I am assuming that his sword wont change tho. Just that it will be "harder" or have the power to cut thru anything Kenny wishes, even tho it seems to do that anyways

I'm not sure he even has bankai, but if so it's definitely going to be badass.

that isn't true... didn't you get kubo's point when he decided to train kenpachi? if Kenpachi was like that , THEY WOULD LOOSE the war U_U.

and in my translation yoruichi told ichigo that Kenpachi was the one without a shikai nor a bankai , if kubo said that Kenpachi was always with his shikai released then f*ck him , tbh.

kenpachi needs no bankai, as said it will destroy his character and his zan is always in shikai although he doesnt know its name hence he couldnt call forth its power, but now he can....thats's as far as his power up goes....and those of you underestimating gremmy dont...he really is a monster...had it been a different opponent greemy would have won by now!

I've also been saying this many many times that Kenpachi getting bankai would make him lose his uniqueness!! His peak power should be shikai-abilities+eye-patch-off...

its bankai. his zanpakuto is permanantly in shikai, so it would have to be bankai. besides, it needs to be epicly overkill.
