Yahiko arrives at the training grounds, throwing a small pebble at Sasuke's sword hand.

You will pick up your sword when asked, I don't want you swinging that around and hurting yourself. Yahiko said in a tone that conveyed little concern for the well-being of his student.
Why is it you wish to learn kenjutsu and how do you intend to utilise it along with your developing skill set?

Sasuke notices a pebble flying towards his sword and hitting it. He turns around to see his Sensei.
"Hey there, Sensei" , he remarks as he hears his Sensei asking him to explain why he wanted Kenjutsu.

Well, Kenjutsu means sword arts or sword techniques. Now, what I believe is a shinobi is nothing without a sword, and the mastery of a sword marks a true shinobi. Also, Kenjutsu is pretty useful for injuring enemies in short range and can be used with Raiton or Fuuton to sharpen the blade and increase it's cutting power like Sasuke did by infusing his Raiton chakra into his sword. When used properly, a blade has the capability to kill an opponent. Kenjutsu is also a good counter to Taijutsu attacks, as the user can use it to cut off the limbs of the opponent, etc. The importance of Kenjutsu was highlighted when Sasuke bisected Madara in the recent chapter. This is why I would like to learn Kenjutsu.

I would use it mainly in conjuction with elemental techs, Taijutsu and some Ninjutsu techs.
I believe it would aid me in my battles, as I don't like to restrict myself to only elemental ninjutsu.

Oh lord, please don't use that glow as your speaking text >__<

Decent enough answer, we'll return to a few of those concepts latter on in our training. For now, describe to me the effect of your strike when using one hand or both hands on the grip of your blade.

lmao okay. xD

Okay. Umm, in a one-handed strike, there is lesser force involved, however it gives the user, the freedom to cover a wider range. This keeps the other hand free, which gives the chance to the user to use any other attack simultaneously with the other hand, like Chidori or Rasengan(one handed). They're quite good for quick slashes.

Two handed strikes have obviously a greater force involved, and is pretty good for defending against attacks. Also, they have more body weight involved, so it's quite a risk for the user if the strike misses, the massive force applied causes him to fall towards the ground due to the gravitational force. And, the user doesn't have the other hand free, i.e. both the hands are occupied. Pretty good for cleaving off any body part or to inflict quite heavy damage.

Excellent explanations there. So we might start off with something different, show me some freeform Kenjutsu skill against myself.

Start short range, I have my katana on my left hip. Only Kenjutsu and supplementary taijutsu freeform, feel free to experiment here with your descriptions as I believe most of Kenjutsu and taijutsu for that fact, has most to do with descriptions and the logic behind them.

*Shinta takes up a defensive stance, right foot in front of his left while holding on the the sheath of his sword using his left hand and his right hand hovering just over the handle. Shinta maintains eye contact with his student, ready for his first move.

Listening to his Sensei, Sasuke prepares his blade, holding the same stance as his Sensei. He slowly observes his Sensei's position, as he runs towards him, pulling off his blade with his right hand and holds it tightly with it, increasing the speed of his running. As he nears him, he bends downward and inflicts a quick slash on his Sensei's abdomen and as he crosses him, he jumps backward and inflicts a backward kick on his back, which sends his Sensei flying. As he's launched in mid-air, Sasuke once more runs towards his position and as his Sensei lands, Sasuke sees that he has his blade outstretched. Taking quick action, he places the blade before his head as he defends himself from his Sensei's downward hit.

Sorry for the weird reply, I'm touring the States for some days and wanted to reply to this asap. I hope my reply was good. :p

You missed some key things in your reply; your first slash, was it right to left or the other way around, was it horizontal (it sounds to me like horizontal). For the kick, what leg, what direction did you spin on, where are you looking during the spin/kick.

You then pretty much god-modded me by saying I have my blade outstretched and made a downward strike.

Kenjutsu and taijutsu all rely on you being crystal clear with your actions so there is no confusion in your move or loop holes that can be exploited by your opponent.

Try again and fix these mistakes, then I'll make an actual counter xD

o_O I never actually thought of mentioning these in my replies. *notes down*

Alright.
A heavy downpour occurred on the outskirts of Amegakure, and a small gust of wind was blowing, the rain hitting Sasuke's face, as each drop felt precious to him. His right hand was placed on the grip of his blade. Left foot forward and right foot back. Eyes locked on his teacher, he slowly unsheathed his sword, and held it with only his right hand, the hand intact on the grip. He then, with a sudden burst ran forward, his upper body bending down, left arm outstretched, right hand holding the sword near his abdomen and as he neared him, he came to a sudden stop with the force of his legs and turned slightly left, outstretching his right hand and inflicting a horizontal slash on his abdomen, however with not much force so as to bisect his teacher in half.

Yeah... that's my counter xD You did what I asked and that's the key point. You need to account for all your relevant limbs during the strike, where you are looking and how you might be positioning yourself for your next move... You also need to do this in a logical (chronological order; what moves first) and concise manner so anyone can understand what you're doing.

Walk over to that training dummy and proceed to attack it with a series of slashes, varying from vertical to horizontal and everything in between. Also, imagine the training dummy is an actual person and state possible injuries each of your slashes will cause, as you land each hit.

Do pretty much the same with this jutsu, however you will first attack with some punches and two final slashes of your choosing, I'd go with two diagonal slices as they tend to be easier to switch into.

The rain continued pouring as Sasuke finished trying out an attack on his Sensei, which turned out to be a substitution. As expected. His Sensei then gave him some specific instructions, as he readied his blade once more. He walked backwards, so as to reach short range of the training dummy, and like earlier, he placed his left foot forward and right foot back. He seemed to observe the dummy carefully, as he aimed for several points, imagining the dummy as a real human. Once ready, he quickly ran towards the dummy, with his upper body bent forward, and as he reached the dummy, he stopped his motion with the force of his legs, as a large screeching sound was heard. As he stopped, he held the blade with both hands and inflicted a quick diagonal slash on the dummy, the slash extending from it's right chest to it's left hip. Again, he inflicted another diagonal slash, but this time, aimed on it's left chest. The slash extended from it's left chest to it's right hip. Once finishing inflicting the diagonal slashes, he outstretched his blade once again, inflicting a vertical slash this time, something which seemed to come off very easy to him, the impact of the slash extending from the heart region to the groin. Finally, he finished the attack, with a horizontal slash which extended from the left abdomen to the right abdomen.

Possible Injuries: 2 diagonal scars, same as when Obito used his shuriken to inflict diagonal hits on Kakashi.

Also, the vertical slash would inflict a deep scar extending from the heart region, upto the groin.

And, last but not the least, the horizontal slash would inflict another scar extending from the right abdomen to the left abdomen..
I just stated the impact of the attacks, I honestly have no idea what injuries would take place once a ninja got hit by these attacks.

Taijutsu mixed with Kenjutsu, eh? Nice. :D

Sasuke sighed, as he finished off inflicting several slashes on the training dummy, cutting it into several pieces. "Oops", he wondered, as his sensei prepared another training dummy. Sasuke sheathed his sword, preparing his hands and warming them up. Once he was ready, he made a quick dash at the training dummy, and once he neared it, he stopped himself with the force of his legs as usual. He then outstretched his right hand, and punched the dummy so as to perform an uppercut on it's chin, lifting it's face up. The next punch was aimed at the dummy's abdomen area, as the impact of the punch, pushed it's stomach back. He then used the force of both of his hands, outstretching them to punch the dummy several times on it's chest and abdomen, quickly unsheathing his sword and holding it with both his hands, using a lot of force to inflict a diagonal slash as before, extending from the right chest area to the left hip. Finally, he finished off the attack by inflicting another diagonal slash, this time the area of impact extending from the left chest area to the right hip, as he stood in silence.

"Good." As soon as Sasuke had finished his last strike upon the dummy Shinta had set up earlier, Adachi approached unnoticed from the side. Striding past the dummy, he casually set it on fire, barely casting a glance at it as it burned into ashes that slowly wafted onto the ground. "I'll assume you aren't dim-witted," Adachi stated bluntly, shoving his hands into his pocket. "So there is no need to go over the previous techniques. They are rather straightforward."

He turned his attention onto the ground, where all that remained of the dummy was the medium-sized branch that had been used to support it. Walking over to it, he picked it up with one hand. "This, instead of that useless dummy, is now your target." Adachi held out the branch with one hand, directly in front of Sasuke's face. "In a moment, I will toss this branch into the air near you. However, before it falls to the ground, take up your blade with one hand and begin to spin your body around in a 360 degrees manner. Hold your blade towards the side so that you are able to strike the branch every time with one full rotation, keeping up the momentum until it has been cut into pieces."

Just as Sasuke finished inflicting the last strike on the dummy, he stood there motionless, eyes locked on to his sensei. Just after a moment, he heard the sound of fire, as he turned sideways, noticing the dummy being burnt into oblivion. "?", a confused look wore on his face, as a single drop of sweat poured down his face, and just as it reached his hands, it gave him goosebumps. Acting on his reflexes, his hands automatically outstretched the blade in front of him, as he placed his left foot back and right foot forward. He noticed a young man speaking to him, as he saw his Sensei disappear into thin air. As he heard what he said, he realized that this man was his new teacher. The sudden change of events had taken him aback.

The dummy turned to ashes, as the only thing remaining about it, was the branch, about medium sized. He looked on, as his new teacher held out the branch in front of him, with his hand, and gave him certain instructions. "Clear as crystal", he wondered, as he readied himself.

Removing one of his hands, the left hand, from his blade, he caught his blade with his right hand, with a very firm grip. Pushing his feet backward, he scraped the ground, as he stood on his toes, almost as if he was stuck to the ground. His expression turned serious once more, as his eyebrows converged diagonally. When he was ready, he held the blade in front of him, and at the right moment, he ran toward his teacher, as he threw the branch in mid-air. Running as fast as possible, he neared the branch, as he jumped into mid-air and rotated anticlockwise, forming a perfect circle, and as the branch came in front of his eyes, he outstretched his hand, holding his blade towards his side, as he inflicted a quick strike on the branch. He repeated the same thing, again and again, until the branch was completely cut into several small pieces.

Yamato landed on the ground with perfect balance as bits and pieces of wood fell around him. Adachi nodded with acknowledgement at his student's previous demonstration. The confidence of which Yamato had executed the instructed technique was rather prominent and befitting. "Much like some Ninjutsu you may have learned," Adachi said. "This technique works best at defending from projectiles as you are spinning yourself in a manner much like the Hyuuga's defensive shielding technique. However, the main point to note that is that you are allowing momentum to take full control of you, thus, you must be careful when using this technique during battle as you are spinning around and regaining sense and balance may be slightly harder."

He formed a single handseal, causing a wooden pillar about a meter in width and length to erupt from the ground about mid range from Yamato. "Now, I would like you to begin with a running start. Take your sword up and once you are near the pillar, calculate an appropriate distance to jump into the air that will then allow you to fall directly onto the pillar with your weapon's edge pointing directly in the center. However, you are not going to simply cut the pillar in half, but much like the previous technique, also spin your body in a 360 degree manner to create a drilling effect when your swordpoint touches the pillar."

"Momentum, eh? Yes Sensei. I'll keep that in mind", he spoke as he did experience a bit of dizziness, albeit with practise he would get used to it. As he spoke, his Sensei created a small wood pillar, about mid-range from him as instructions were given to him. "Another technique involving spinning?! Oh lord :/ ", he sighed, as he pulled out his chest and corrected his posture. Posture was always important, or he would experience injuries.

After thinking of it, he then placed his left foot back and right foot forward, pushing off some dust off the ground to maintain balance, as he bent his body forward. Focusing all his attention on the small pillar, he pushed off the ground, with a quick run, and as he reached short range of the dummy, he calculated the distance between him and the dummy and acting according to it, he jumped into the air, unsheathing his sword, holding it with both his hands, holding it on the handle of his blade. Outstretching his sword, and aiming the edge at the centre, he jumped downwards, and as he did that, he spun his body in a 360 degree manner, a perfect circle. His fast spinning body reached the pillar, as the edge of the blade touched it on the centre and due to the violent rotation, a drilling motion was achieved on impact, as the pillar was destroyed into several thousand fine pieces.

Wait, did I just say wooden pillar? I'm retarded...
It was a near perfect execution. Adachi nodded with satisfaction, walking over the broken pillar towards his student. "Allow me to speak of chakra charging now," he then said. "By charging your chakra to the soles of your feet or even your hands, you are able to boost the power of your strikes or even, as I am referring to the basic ability of standing on water, of keeping your balance on the ground. Now..."

The earth rumbled next to him as a clone that resembled its creator in nearly every manner emerged. "I'd like you charge chakra to your feet to provide yourself something akin to a speed boost. This will allow you to dash up directly to my clone. Once near, hold your sword in a reverse grip in order to strike him directly on his body so that you are able to follow up with several kicks that are strong to send him into the air. When this happens, charge your chakra into the soles of your feet once more, dashing up to catch the end of the trajectory you send him on so that you are able to punch him before he lands on the ground to send him flying into a distant tree."

Wood pillar, wood block, they're all the same. xD
"Ah yes, chakra flow. Asuma was quite adept with it, and so was Kakashi", spoke Tenzo. He held on to his blade, with his right hand, and he held it with a reverse grip, clutching it very tightly, at the exact place where the handle and the actual blade joined, after which he channeled chakra to his feet. Focusing a good amount, he made a quick dash towards the just formed clone of his Sensei. As he reached it, he outstretched his right hand, and focusing his eye upon on the clone's abdomen, he hit the hilt exactly there, as the momentum of the hilt, pushed his abdomen inside, and before he could react, he placed his hands sidewards, so as to give place to his legs, and followed up with several strong kicks. The first one was aimed at his left chest and the other at his right chest. The third one was aimed at his left cheek, and the fourth one aimed at his right cheek. The kicks were so powerful that the clone was coughing up blood. Indeed, they were chakra charged kicks. Then, he aimed one last kick at the region between his chest and abdomen, so as to kick him up high in the sky, albeit in a diagonal manner. The impact and the positioning of the kick made the clone fly pretty far away, in a 45 degree manner. As he was launched, Tenzo used the chakra channeled to his feet to make a quick run at his clone's position, exactly calculating where he would land, and outstretched his left hand as hard as he could, focusing all his energy into his fists. As the clone fell downwards, Tenzo's punch aimed for his face, hit him so hard that he flew again diagonally, albeit hitting a distant tree, and hurting his back very badly, as he fell to the ground, poofing off.

The clone barely reacted to the brutal damage dealt to it, the only visible emotion a mere wince across his features. After slamming into the distance tree, it crumbled into wet clay only to reform moments later as the damage done was physical.

Adachi nodded. "No issue in that technique either. Don't forget that although all of these techniques have long, drawn out descriptions that you may not completely get through during a battle, you can always choose to only execute the first part of it. So, for example, you can knock your enemy up into the air, but follow up with something else completely different."

With a single hand, he beckoned for his clone to make its way back to where he and his student were standing. "Now," Adachi instructed. "I'd like you to charge your blade with chakra and then run up to my clone once more. Don't forget that distance builds momentum, which builds power. Once near, deliver an upwards slash that sends him into the air and then charge chakra into your feet to jump up higher than the pinnacle of the trajectory that you sent him up. Assuring that you are above my clone, hold your sword into a reverse grip, point the tip downwards and deliver a drilling slash to send him directly back down with force."

Ah, a Wood clone, Tenzo remarked, smirking. Yes, I know Sensei, he said. It would be potentially a waste of one's time to perform the whole jutsu, I'm well aware.

As the clone was signaled back to it's original position, Tenzo heard his Sensei's instructions. Making a mental picture of what he had to do, he sighed a little. It was a little complex, albeit nothing very hard. This time round, he gathered raw chakra in his body, and channeled it to his hand, from where it traveled towards the blade, giving off a little bright aura, a sign of pure, unmanipulated chakra flowing brilliantly through the blade, giving off a slight sound. As he did that, he saw the clone's position, and pushed the ground with his foot, charging with a dash towards the clone. He remembered what he said. Distance indeed builds momentum. As he reached short range of the clone, he put himself to a half forcefully, by extending pressure on the ground, using his feet, as the motion placed his left foot back and right foot forward, albeit he hadn't come to a complete halt. He just stopped for an instant and used the momentum of his run to extended the chakra charged sword, by outstretching his right hand and slashed the clone on his chest, in a diagonal manner, as the movement of the blade with the chakra channeled to it, increased the slashing power. The force of the slash and the specific angle, caused the clone to go into mid-air. As he reached mid-air, Tenzo gathered raw chakra in his foot, using the chakra channeled as well as the push of his body to jump upwards, higher than the clone himself. After doing that, he immediately turned his sword backwards, holding it in a reverse grip with both hands, and like the other technique, pointed the tip of the hilt exactly at the centre of the clone's body, and jumped downward, and soon as the tip made contact, he applied more force. The applied force, as well the downward gravitational force caused the tip to drill around the clone's body, like a drilling slash, thus pushing it downwards with such a great force that the impact caused it to reform once more.

"Perfect execution." Adachi needed not comment any further as the confidence across his student's face was written rather clearly. "Now, I'm sure you are aware of ranges in battle, with short range being 0-5 meters, mid range 5-10, and and long range 10-15+. Different ranges have different risks and rewards, with short range potentially being the most dangerous as moves happen fairly quickly and without warning. Naturally, Taijutsu specialists, users of Gentle Fist, and Kenjutsu itself happen at this range, however, the move I am about to teach you is an unique kind as of itself since it is one of the only Kenjutsu techniques to work at a distance."

Adachi stood and then took several steps back to distance himself from his student. His hands were placed together, ready to form a handseal at any moment. "Take up your sword in your dominant hand. Charge chakra into the blade, focusing it so that there is more than enough power to overtake and flow out of the weapon itself. In a few moments, when I sense that you are prepared, I will release a water projectile in the shape of the sphere. Focus your attention upon it, raise your arm back and then swing it in a perfect arc to release a crimson chakra wave at the projectile to defend yourself. Take careful note of where you aim it."
