[Kenjutsu] with Nathan

[Shadou]

Shadou makes his way towards an area where he would undergo training in the art of kenjutsu with a sensei from his village of konohagakure. He was dressed in his usual red cloak, with the hood pulled above his head, hiding his eyes from view. Underneath his cloak was a black sheath with a red dragon engraved on it where his katana was stored. Although he carried the blade with him everywhere he went, he had little knowledge in how to correctly use it and hopefully that would change through this training session.

While waiting for his sensei, Shadou removes his cloak revealing his black battle gear and sheath. He grabs onto the hilt of his katana and withdraws the blade from the sheath and starts to twirl the blade around.

There was someone in the same village as him, they wanted to learn the way of the sword and Castiel heard that man would have be, Castiel himself. So he started to walk to the training area, where most of the leaf village training undergoes. Castiel was wearing his usual attire, as soon as he reached the training area, he saw a man carelessly swinging his blade around.
"You could hurt yourself with that, my name is Castiel and I will be teaching you the art of the blade, or more know as Kenjutsu."
Castiel then proceed to get within close-range of his new student, and he raised his hand outright.
"And, what would your name be?"

Well, Kenjutsu, which means sword technique is self-explanatory on what it’s about, the art of the sword. Kenjutsu pertains to techniques that entail the use of swords.Although the samurai are most known for their use of kenjutsu techniques, there are some shinobi who also can be deadly with a sword. Kenjutsu techniques can used along with taijutsu, ninjutsu, and even genjutsu to create devastating techniques capable of inflicting serious damage to an opponent.

The art of kenjutsu would be a great addition to my arsenal and what better way to defeat your opponent than to make him bow down to your blade. You live by the sword, you die by the sword as the saying goes, and with kenjutsu techniques, I will make sure enemies of the leaf will die by it!

Castiel smiles as his student answers his questions with good answers. Castiel then proceeds to perform a single sal to create a shadow clone of himself 5 feet away from him.
"Short and sweet, I like that. Okay now I want you to attack my clone using your blade, I want you to explain to me while attacking my clone, how you want to go about it, remember to attack him, use creative moves and stances, I need you to be as detailed as you can, like you're trying to kill my clone. GO!"
Castiel then moves away from his clone and his student to see how the student clones with a non-moving target.

 

[Shadou]

Understood.

Shadou draws his katana from the sheath and brings his attention to the clone created by his sensei. He takes a moment to swing the sword in the air a few times to warm up his dominant hand which gripped the hilt of the blade. He straightened his posture and started to slowly approach the clone, with his right hand held to the side and his left hand raised in front of his face.

Quick, agile movements with perfect precision.

Once within a comfortable distance of the clone, Shadou placed his left foot behind him and took the lead with his right. He kept balance on the ball of his left foot, allowing for quick movements in case he had to dodge an incoming attack. He brought his right hand up to his chest and angled his wrist so that the sword was pointed outward toward the clone.

Distract him, wait for an opening, strike!

Shadou quickly brought his right hand over to his left shoulder and swung his arm out, creating a quick slash on the chest of the clone. Shadou then once again swung his arm that was now raised in the air on his right side, attempting to slice the clone’s chest again. The clone once again was grazed by the katana, leaving a slight X on his chest from the two slices. Knowing that any opponent would expect another quick swing of the blade, Shadou bent his legs, so that both of his knees were pointed towards the clone. He extended his arm which held the blade outward, so that the point of the blade was on the clone’s stomach. With a slight jab, the katana would penetrate the clone’s stomach, but Shadou chose to not do anything, he just wanted to show his sensei he had some skill with a sword, though not to use in an actual battle.

(Ken Rendan no Jutsu) - Sword Barrage Technique

Pretty much all you have to do is, get in close and take out your sword, deal about 5 or so slashes in any direction on your targets body; once you have completed and dealt the slashes, deal a powerful final slash where ever you want, I would personally use the make the final strike down the middle of his body.

(Ken Rendan no Jutsu) - Sword Barrage Technique​

One/three advantages:

• 1. This technique deals several slashes on an opponent, and then a powerful final blow which could catch an enemy off guard during the midst of a battle.
• 2. The slashes can be dealt anywhere on your opponents body, making it a nice technique to slow an enemies advance towards you.
• 3. Low chakra cost.

One/three disadvantages:

• 1. The attack doesn’t deal heavy damage to an opponent so relying on this technique to be a coup de grace may not be a great option.
• 2. Because several slashes are first performed before the fatal strike, a fast opponent may have time to quickly counter.
• 3. Because of the short range, if the opponent performs a counter and unless the user can perform a technique that doesn’t require hand seals or has a specialty with an element, they would be in trouble.

How you would use it in battle: With this technique, I would try to catch my opponent off guard if within distance. Possibly after performing a counter or after my opening attack, I could make the move in on my opponent and perform this technique while he is being distracted from my first.

How you would counter it: Possibly using an elemental technique of higher rank that is capable of putting up a wall or surrounding myself in an elemental armor to defend would work against this technique. A technique such as wind stream technique or the earth flow river to push myself away from distance or throw my opponent off balance would work as a counter.

How you perform it (with as much detail as you can):
After withdrawing his katana from its sheath, Shadou moves within in a short distance of his opponent. The sword was pointed outward toward the opponent. He kept his hand wrapped around the hilt of blade with a firm a grip, preparing to attack. With great speed and precision, Shadou swiped the blade five times in front of him, as the edge of his blade came into contact with his opponents chest with each swipe, dealing several slashes to his opponent. Shadou then raises his right arm slightly higher into the air, held on his left side so that the blade was pointed behind his neck. He then quickly brought the blade around, leaving a deadly slash across his opponent’s neck.

(Ikari Nomikomu no Jutsu) - Fury Swallow Technique

Description: The user punches the opponent a few times and finishes them with two final slashes with their blade or sword.

Go up to my clone and perform a simple forward punch and repeat the punching for a few times, then once you have completed that, grab out your sword and perform two slashes anyway you want, at my clone. This should be enough to make me go poof. This technique is simple yet effective for such a low ranked technique, and can be used in many combos.

 

[Shadou]

(Ikari Nomikomu no Jutsu) - Fury Swallow Technique ​

One/three advantages:

• 1. Because punches are dealt before the sword is drawn, the user has time to react to an opponent in case of a counter.
• 2. The technique has a low chakra cost
• 3. Slashes can be directed anywhere on the opponent and the technique has many possibilities to use as a combo.

One/three disadvantages:

• 1. The technique has to be done in a short range which makes it a gamble to perform in front of an enemy.
• 2. The technique takes a while to set up, giving an opponent plenty of time to counter if they can evade the punches.
• 3.Taking a moment too grab your sword can be costly if your opponent isn't stunned from the blows.

How you would use it in battle: I would use a technique capable of blinding the opponent such as the mudshot technique or hiding in the mist/eye deprivation combo and then follow up with this technique while their vision is taken. If the opponent is attempting taijutsu, if I could manage to counter, I could deliver this technique.

How you would counter it: Using a wind technique capable of pushing my opponent back and creating distance would render this technique useless because the user has to be in short range. An earth technique like the rock pillar prison technique or any technique that can catch my opponent off guard would also be a good way to counter.

How you perform it (with as much detail as you can):
Shadou approaches the clone of his sensei with his arms down by his side with both of his fist tightly balled up. Once near the clone, Shadou places his left foot behind him and takes the lead with his right foot, toes pointed at the clone. He bends his knees and bring his left arm in front of his face with his right arm near his ear. He throws out a straight jab with his left hand, striking the clone in the chin. Shadou then brings in his right arm and swings a hook, also nailing the clone in the chin. Once the clone is rocked by the strike, Shadou shifts his right leg behind him and brings his left to the front while he quickly reaches down towards his sheath with his right hand and pulls his katana out of it.As he is pulling the katana out, Shadou channels a minimal amount of his chakra into the sword. With his hand gripped onto the hilt, Shadou swings the katana two times diagonally across the clones chest, causing him to vanish due to too much damage.

(Enjin Ranbu) - Circular Wild Dance

I will teach you this one anyway. Take this wooden tanto of mine, then get up close near my clone, then proceed to use the tanto to hit him many times, anyway you want.

( Enjin Ranbu ) - Circular Wild Dance

One/three advantages:

• 1.The technique has no cost to the users chakra
• 2. The tanto hits the opponent several times, capable of stunning him while inflicting damage.
• 3. Because a tanto is smaller than an average sword, maneuvering with one can be easier.

One/three disadvantages:

• 1. A person may not have a tanto in their biography or forget to mention they have one in battle.
• 2. A tanto is a short sword so a quick opponent could dodge attacks from one easily
• 3. There aren’t too many kenjutsu attacks that can be used with a tanto, making it nearly pointless too use.

How you would use it in battle:I would definitely attempt to catch my opponent off guard before using this technique. Using a quick taijutsu technique than using this technique as an combination will serve well. A technique from the basic five that requires no hand seals then following up with this technique could be a good combo. Maybe trapping an opponent in a genjutsu and then moving in to perform this technique could be another great combo.

How you would counter it: Using a wind technique such as the wind stream technique to push myself away from my opponent will serve as a great way to evade the attack. Using a elemental technique of same or higher rank to call forth a wall in front of me will serve as a good way to counter. A technique used to boost me into air will serve as a good way to dodge.

How you perform it (with as much detail as you can):
After taken the tanto made of wood from my sensei, Shadou approaches his sensei’s clone while keeping a firm grip on the wooden sword. Once in the required distance, Shadou places his left foot behind him, and raises his right hand which held the tanto in front of him. He swings the tanto, aiming at the clone’s rib cage. After the strike to the rib lands, Shadou brings his right arm towards his stomach and swings his arm outwards, striking the clone in the stomach. Shadou quickly raises his right arm at full force and connects with the clone’s jaw. Shadou continues to swing the tanto, hitting the clone multiple times in the chin.

Description: The user will drop down upon the opponent from mid air pointing their sword downwards and drilling it down into the opponent.

Somehow get yourself up into the air, around the mid-air side, above your target then with your sword pointing downwards above them, drill the sword down into them. Handy if you are already up in the air.

 

[Shadou]

(Rakkasui) - Falling Water​

One/three advantages:

• 1. No chakra cost to the user
• 2. If timed right, jumping into the air can throw the opponent off their game
• 3. Can be used with many other techniques for an aerial assault

One/three disadvantages:

• 1. Jumping in the air may take some time, giving the opponent the opportunity to counter if they aren’t already stunned or blinded by another jutsu.
• 2. While in mid-air, the user doesn’t have as much time to react to a jutsu directed towards them, especially if their sword is already drawn.
• 3. Can only be done from a short range while in air.

How you would use it in battle: Casting a genjutsu on my opponent that can immobilize him, then performing this technique can be a great combo. Using a technique that can boost me into the air, then jumping off of whatever was created can be a great way to add up a combo. A quick jutsu used in short range to set up this technique would be another way I would use this attack in battle.

How you would counter it: By using a technique that I can exhale or spew out of my mouth or using a technique released from my hands, I could redirect a technique and send it towards the opponent in mid-air to throw them off.

How you perform it (with as much detail as you can):
Observing his surroundings, Shadou notices a tree nearby his opponent. He quickly dashes toward the tree and begins to climb it. Once near the top, Shadou pushes off the tree with his feet and leaps high into the air above his target. As he is jumping, he quickly grabs onto the hilt of his katana and withdraws it from the sheath. Shadou then bends his knees so that he was crouching in the air and pointed the katana down towards his opponent. As he came landing on the ground, his katana pierced through his opponents head.

(Bakuchi Tori Kuzu Oujou) – Gambling Bird Arrowroot Death

Description: The user bolts in front of the enemy who they then strike with their sword handle before delivering several kicks that sends the enemy into the air. The user then bolts across to the far off location of the enemy who they then punch violently into an obstacle.

Okay with this one, I want you to run up or bolt as it says towards my clone, using your sword handle I want you to hit the clone once, then proceed to kick him, many times and with the finally kick send him up into the air, now as the clone is falling, I want you to punch him so it sends him flying into the tree behind yes, this technique is good since it's one technique with some many attacks, only bad thing is that is your target manages to block/counter lets say the kicks, the whole technique would else flop.

 

[Shadou]

(Bakuchi Tori Kuzu Oujou) – Gambling Bird Arrowroot Death​

One/three advantages:

• 1. Technique deals many strikes
• 2. Sends the opponent flying into an obstacle, which gives enough time to perform another jutsu or set up a trap.
• 3. Technique can be quickly performed.

One/three disadvantages:

• 1. Like most kenjutsu techniques, this technique can only be performed at short-range.
• 2. Because the technique consist of many strikes, if the opponent manages to dodge atleast one of the kicks, the technique would be interrupted.
• 3. Requires a chakra cost.

How you would use it in battle: I would use this technique in battle to send my opponent into an obstacle and then performing a jutsu while they are recovering from this attack. Since this technique has to be done with strikes first, using a taijutsu combo then using this technique to send your opponent flying would be a good use. Performing an earth technique right before the opponent lands could be a good way to trap them after performing this technique.

How you would counter it: I could use the water replacement technique to avoid physical damage from the strikes. Calling forth a wall from an elemental technique of equal or greater rank will prevent this technique from being performed.

How you perform it (with as much detail as you can):
Shadou makes a quick bolt towards the clone of his sensei. While he is dashing towards the clone, he grasp onto his sheath that his katana rested in with his right hand. Once in front of the clone, Shadou raises his right arm and swings his sheath across his body, the hilt of his blade struck the clones chin. Once the clone is struck with the hilt, Shadou raises his right leg and thurst it out, striking the clone in the stomach. Following up with that strike, Shadou quickly raises his left leg upward, delivering a blow to the clones chin and sending it flying into the air. As the clone starts to come falling towards the ground. Shadou cocks his right arm back and balls up his right hand, forming a fist. He then swings at full force to the falling clone, striking him and sending him flying into a tree that was behind them.

(Rensei Shinkuken) – Drilling Crimson Blade

Description: The user takes out their blade and channels chakra into it. They then run towards the opponent, slashing them upwards into the air and then appear above him/her, and deliver a sharp, drilling slash down upon them, impelling them into the ground.

Okay so with this one, you'll need to channel some chakra into your blade from there, run towards my clone, then by using your sword slash your sword upwards on the body of my clone, this should push him into the air, then you'll want to appear above him, by using your sword once more hit him with a drilling slash that sends him into the ground, with of course the sword also impelled into him.

 

[Shadou]

One/three advantages:

• 1. Technique doesn’t require strikes to be dealt before the sword is drawn, so it can be performed quick.
• 2.The target is hit two times by the sword and also is sent flying to the ground with the sword impelled in them
• 3. Can grant the user a chance to quickly follow up with another jutsu

One/three disadvantages:

• 1. With the blade being drawn, the user cannot perform any jutsus that requires a sequence of hand seals
• 2. The opponent may have time to counter once they are launched into the air
• 3.

How you would use it in battle: Since this technique requires less of a set up then other kenjutsu strikes, I could open up with this technique. While my opponent is coming crashing down to the ground, I could direct and send a jutsu at them as well. I could also blind my opponent or perform a technique capable of trapping him and then move in for this technique. To add damage, I could use an elemental jutsu that adds extra damage to my sword and strike my opponent.

How you would counter it:
If I could manage to pull off a technique to blind my opponent or propel myself into the air, I could evade this technique. I could perform an elemental technique such as the lightning plasma jutsu to cover myself from the oncoming slash. If already sent flying into the air, I could send a quick jutsu at the user to disrupt the technique.

How you perform it (with as much detail as you can):
With the clone in his line of vision, Shadou grabs onto the hilt of his katana with his right hand. He begins to gather the pure chakra from within and channels it into the blade. With his right hand still held tightly around the hilt, Shadou makes a quick dash towards the clone of his sensei. Once in front of the clone, Shadou quickly withdraws his katana from its sheath, slicing it upwards onto the clones chest. The clone is sent flying into the air from the force of the first strike. Once the clone is within the air, Shadou jumps and appears above the clone in which he then violently impales the clone with his katana, sending it crashing down to the ground.

(Suraisu Shinku no Nami) - Slicing Crimson Wave

Description: The user does a simple cresent-shaped slash at the opponent, expelling a red chakra wave.

This one is one of the more used techniques, since it is straight forward and well easy to pull off, what I want you to do is, gather your chakra in your blade and from there, I want you slash downwards to release a crescent shaped slash, at my clone. This technique releases a red wave of chakra, it's handy for targets that are at mid-range of you, and just an overall good technique.
