What? Wait!!

Panthalassa said, as he put even more effort into taking off his sword from the log, looking frantically towards his Sensei, who was charging lightning around himself. At the last minute, Pantha managed to take out the sword from the wood and pointed it at the lightning, allowing it to envelop the sword like it was a rod, before he pointed the tip downwards and allowed the lightning to drop on the ground.

This was exhilarating! I have some questions, though, will the sword actually attract unfocused lightning? The technique you used sounded like it would hit the sword and me at the same time, and this would only be a good counter if the lightning is attracted to the sword and moves away from me. Secondly, which ranks does this counter? Same rank without taking damage? Any rank? Thirdly, can I point the tip back to the opponent, reverting the lightning back to him, or must I point it to the ground? And must I touch the ground with the sword, or just point it downwards? Or must I have my feet on the ground?

The user by use of a sword can use it as a rod to attract lightning currents that are channeled into the user from opponents attacks and by pointing the tip of the blade into the ground the user is then able to dispel the lightning charge nullifing the effects of paralysis. However this only works on free flowing lightning based techniques such as the Chidori current and not on focused lightning based techniques

"The sword itself attracts the Lightning, acting as a Lightning rod for Lightning currents that are channelled into the user from the opponent's attacks. So basically, if you are hit, the sword then acts as a Lightning Rod and attracts the Lightning from your body towards it, where you then slam the sword into the ground, dispelling the currents completely. The tip goes into the ground, and as for rank and such, this technique is usually only used against Chidori Nagashi, sinc its the only free flowing Lightning technique I know of (or that is safe to assume to use this technique on). The technique is not capable of sending back the Lightning, and it can only be dispelled into the ground. You must have you feet on the ground when you use it, yes."

What about the S rank version of Nagashi? Would it overpower the sword then? It's just that you said Kenjutsu is the same as raw chakra, so it is weak to elemental ninjutsu. This one is specifically stated to be used to defeat lightning, so I would understand how this could be different, but it's still very daunting to use. I want to make sure. Would it work on an unfocused lightning technique of forbidden rank ( a custom, for example )?

"There is no S rank Nagashi, but I do believe that the Kenjutsu technique can only be used against B rank techniques (only that 1 Nagashi) since it is a B rank too. Though I never encountered the question of ranking, and remember, not just any Lightning technique (only unfocused Lightning techniques)."

The one you used was an A rank. As for S rank version, I meant this one:

(Raiton: Chidori Raimei) - Lightning Style: 1000 Birds Thunderstorm
Rank: S
Type: Attack
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra cost:40
Damage Points:80
Descripton: The user will channel lightning chakra into his hand, covering it with a massive chidori. The user will then point his palm forwards, unleashing that chakra, creating a massive 120º blast of lightning that spreads from his hand, outwards and forward towards the enemy.

"No, that isn't a free flowing Lightning technique. That is a direct Lightning technique, focusing on destruction whilst Chidori Nagashi is focused on paralysis and numbing, free flowing. We'll cover that when we one day do Lightning ;-;"

Okay so it works against all B rank unfocused lightning techniques, with the exception of Chidori Nagashi, which is A rank, but the technique still works?

And to finalize, we didn't learn all the techniques, because some require Lightning. But we learned all the techniques that don't require anything else. Does this mean I completed Kenjutsu? (for bio purposes)

I meant A rank, same rank as Chidori Nagashi.

"Unfortunately not, as all techniques need to be learned in the normal Kenjutsu genre, in order to have it completed (this excludes Kenjutsu techniques that are tied to characters or Samurai based ones)."
