*I draw my sword from my right hip with ly left hand and firmly grip the sword with both hands running towards you with the sword downwards pointing dragging along the dirt, as I get closer to you I quickly use the sword to quickly upward slash it upwards causing dust to go into your eyes as you would instictly close your eyes I slash downwards diagnally from left to right down your chest from your right shoulder to just below your rib cage under your heart*
How large is the point of a sword? Unless you're in a desert; your tactic won't work. I like the thought of a distraction followed by a powerful attack though, so your mind's in the right place. However; you've left yourself wide open.
"As you charge towards me, I unsheathe my sword with my left hand, holding it vertically, point downwards against my
left (pretty self-evident, but it's always nice to close the gaps) side." - This is my stance now, for future reference.
Now personally, I'm not the most 'graceful' fighter when it comes to describing my moves. If you read Kenjutsu-matches where either Gin-San, KeotsuEclipse or Nirvana fights, you'll notice how their description-styles seem to 'flow'. While the most important thing about a descriptions is how
precise and
understandable it is; making your moves 'flow' is a trait of a true master. Compared to those guys, I'm a crude brute and you're ickle firsties.
Now, the offensive portion of your move consists of
two important motions: your upwards-going slash and your downwards-going diagonal slash. The fact that both your hands are occupied
can be a good thing; it means that your strikes are faster and more powerful, but it
also means that you can't use them for other things.
Say I avoid what little dust you may flare up simply by squinting my eyes, then what? By raising your sword with both hands you've exposed your waist, abdomen and chest to attacks from any and all directions. I don't need raw power to redirect your strike; I simply have to raise my blade diagonally upwards and let your sword slide off the edge of mine. That's
one hand. Now, where do you think my other hand might be going while you're defenseless?
Heck, while you're in the middle of raising your blade I might as well whip my blade forwards and bury it in your abdomen, or slash you diagonally upwards across the chest.
My possibilities are endless because your attack consists of
two movements while
in range of my inevitable counter-attack.
Whenever possible; attack in a
single movement when you get in range.
Try again. There's potential here.
I take out my sword from it's sheath and grab it using both my hands, I then start to run towards while shifting the sword towards my right side as I quickly close in the distance between us I start to look for an opportunity to attack you, as I am now about to reach I take a long stride forward and jump towards you at great while lifting my sword high in the air though still towards my right, this rather sudden action [the jump] takes you by surprise and as soon as you get with in the range of my sword I perform a diagonal slash from top to bottom and from moving right to left, the slash proceeds as I gradually descends towards the ground.
How do you know? One important thing is to
never ever state how your opponent reacts in
any way. Same goes to you, Oro. You can't make me close my eyes. You can inform me that it's a natural reaction, but your wording implies that I'm
forced to do it. Don't.
Don't jump. Don't ever, ever jump. When both your feet leave the ground; you're toast. You can't maneuver in mid-air no matter how good you are. Your jump makes my possibilities endless. I can step away from your range and then bounce back in as you land, but that'd be a mercy. You
can't step backwards. Your jump is a contract and you've committed your body and soul to it. All I need to do is deflect your strike and bury my fist in your gut; that's all it takes.
Try again. I know you guys can do this.
