If you havent notice these two names has been in the hip hop media since Macklemore "stoled" 4 grammys that many thought Lamar would win. Even the Best Rap Album award. I wanna hear thoughts on this, many believe that Macklemore should have been in the more pop categories since the "Grammies" isnt favorable in hip hop categories. So basically people felt Mackelemore didnt deserve to win the awards he won due to the fact he stole awards from artist that deserved it.

Some say the grammys tend to be racist or one sided, and they tend to mix up artist and categories which in the end messes up results, and since most of Macklemore album and songs were "pop" rather than "hip hop", so it would explain why Macklemore would win once he was a nominee since he has a more favorable fan base for the grammys. Those are just some facts but look it up to learn more about it. I wanna hear what you guys think?!?!?!?!

Also remember MACKLEMORE, came out and said he felt Kendrick Lamar should have won Best Rap Album, considering this, what do you think guys:cool:

Macklemore said it himself, he knew Kendrick deserved best rap album. Not taking away from Macklemore at all but he knows it himself. Any person who listens to the both of them know that Kendrick is better in terms of flow, lyricism, wordplay, etc IMO. Again, not taking away from Macklemore but it's just how it is.

I watched the grammy's just to see Daft Punk and Metallica perform. Tbh, I really don't care about Macklemore and Lamar, their music is like noise to my ears. So whether Lamar got ripped off I really dont care for it that much. In my opinion non of them should have won anything.

Mack won it cuz he blew up big time in 2012/13.
He had the bigger impact on the mainstream than Kendrick.
lulz neither should've won it any ways and Kendrick is OLD news.

There were way better hip-hop albums out there.

I don't like all the claims that Macklemore won because of a white privilege. Like, is that supposed to be some kind of joke? I understand that racism can play a role in quite a few things, but is this really how we're gonna fight that? By being sore losers? Not everytime a white guys beats out a black guy, it's because he was white. Maybe this time, a white guy just happened to win. Their genre is predominantly black and has been known to be prejudiced against white people. If Kendrick had one, no one would be saying "Typical the black rapper beat the white rapper." It's really ****ing disgusting that anytime a black guy loses to a white guy, it's automatically a race issue.

Lol Go on Rapgenius, everyone's calling him Caclemore since the grammys. You right, race got nothing to do with it though.

I saw this topic, so I had to go in.

I would like to first say congrats to Macklemore with his Grammy achievements. Were they well deserved? I would say most likely not. But does it take away from his achievement? One again, most likely not. You see when it comes to this rap game we all know and love it has evolved into something so different then how it was before. Now there were major reasons Mac was picked. One being he had a song which was pro gay marriage, which you can debate all you want, it got him the votes to every pro gay and gay person which makes a difference because there are a lot of people. Second he got much more commercial success. He got higher views of videos and higher downloads on his songs, so basically he had a much larger name during the awards not to the rap community but to the world as a whole. May I say I talked with a lot of people as well and they did not know who K.Dot was until they saw his performance. He was much more underground and his style of rap did not merge well with commercial rap music.

You see, the Grammy's today and well how it always has been, are determined by the music academy (which are basically people with respected names in the music business) and from my experience and notice. They pick artists who are most known around the world, send a positive image and successfully perform there genre. Now Mac technically speaking did all of this. So he was most qualified for the win, it does not mean he was actually a better rapper or made better music. Kendrick will always be a true hip-hop genius. He has better lyrics, flow, story telling abilities, punchlines, and much more. But he is much more underground and less known.

I mean you have to be a true lover of hip-hop to know who he is. But you don't need to be a true lover of hip-hop to know Mac, you just need a radio and the internet. Also, stop with the race thing. It is pathetic guys.
