Kekkei genkeis went from being awesome blood line abilities (i.e sharingan ) to wicked elemental based chakra
now here is s a picture of all known kekkei genkei
There is a klist at the end of this post you can compare the kanji in the list to the kanji in the picture
Now everyone will argue that blaze release is not kkg but it is and here is my explanation why it is
kkgs are special elemental abilities such as Ice Wood or lava.
Now lets assume that Amaterasu is actually an element. It is fire after all. But its (arguably) the must advanceds form fire based jutsu.
The only confirmed user of blaze release is an Uchiha (I.e Sasuke). So lets assume That its an Uchiha KKG as well as Sharingan.
The Uchiha specialized in fire based jutsu along with their sharingan.
So the users of the fire had to have a way to control the fire aswell. (i.e shape trancfermation)
Some will say blaze release is just that (shape transformation)
But my view on this is very different
I believe that Blaze release is Kekkei Genkei that can only be used by a member of the Uchiha clan or at least one with Amaterasu.
I feel that Blaze release is a combination of Fire nature and the special chakra that awakens the Sharingan(or MS) and the Amaterasu
Its just one idea
Another proof that it is in fact a chakra nature
Is its name Blaze Release (all other kkgs and chakra natures have release in their name as well)
Even with shape transformation Narutos Wind style Rasenshuriken requires a wind chakra nature

But Oro is a scientist. i can only compare him to Captain kurosuchi from bleach and stein from soul eater
The primary reason oro fled the village was that His research had been interrupted
Its also safe to assume he had edo tensei and living corpse reincarnation under his belt
But Oros most famous experiment was definitely his experimentation on Hashirama's DNA
The fruits of his labors was danzou (who was also an experiment with sharingan) and Captain Yamato
Now I've hypothesised in the past that Oro (through living corpse reincarnation) has the abilties to use kkgs of the body he is currently in possession of. (my proof is that itachi kimimaru and sasuke were all three candidates for oros next body)
Oro wasn't just creating a ninja with mokuton but he was creating his next host.
Further evidence for his interest in the sage is that Orochimaru has never (seemed) to have interest in jinchurikis. even though he had the best opportunity out of anyone who targeted naruto, too capture him. but he just through him away. for sasuke.
Im guessing the only reason Oro joined the Akatsuki was the Rinnegan. He left though because he couldnt beat itachi. so he left.
Orochimaru also prepared madaras edo tensei (i still have my doubts kabuto did it on his own)
and as kabuto stated they theorized Sharingan's next evolution.
Orochimaru has always shown interest in two Kekkei Genkei: Sharingan and Mokuton
and we know that sharingan and mokuton were passed down through the elder and younger sons respectively
So I believe Oro's ultimate goal lies in rinnegan all he needs now is a set of eyes

But Tranplanted eyes (all doijutsu) retain their abilities. i.e Izuna, Shisui, obito, and fodder hyuga
The examples eyes has been transplanted retain their abilities

Where in other clans most members of the clan have the clans KKG
But how come Hashirama is the only (known) senju who can use the mokuton
Its because the gene that allowed the mokuton was highly recessive.
Hashirama had a 1 in 4 chance of have it and a 50 percent chance of passing on the gene and to our knowledge that didnt happen

The Ice (氷, Kōri) nature, used by Haku and the Yuki clan, is created by simultaneously combining the Water and Wind natures. This nature allows for the use of Ice Release (氷遁, Hyōton) ninjutsu. Used through a kekkei genkai.
Yukigakure-nin were able to use a different kind of Ice Release, by drawing on already-existing ice, snow, and cold. This was not a kekkei genkai, as Kakashi could copy one of these techniques with his Sharingan. This is likely a mistake, as the kekkei genkai of the Yuki clan had not been referred to as "Ice Release" yet at that time, and also the details of nature transformation hadn't been revealed yet, allowing the creators of Naruto the Movie: Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow to "invent" this "new" nature. Also, while Haku's ice techniques had unusual effects, this type of Ice Release focuses on more obvious effects of ice, such as freezing.

It is implied that the two ways of writing this nature (熔遁; 溶遁) are pointing out that they are different in some way. They are switched around and alternated throughout the plot, with Iwagakure and Kumogakure characters using the kanji "熔" and the Kirigakure character using the kanji "溶". The Crystal (結晶, Kesshō) nature, used by Guren, is possibly created by simultaneously combining the Earth nature and another unspecified nature. This nature allows for the use of Crystal Release (晶遁, Shōton) ninjutsu.(Anime-only)
