SO,
a couple things to note

1) Kawaki and Boruto talked as if they have history, posibly a former friendship or partnership. or plain out rivalry. What if Kawaki actually taught Boruto how to utilize the seal?

2) Kawaki mentions the age of shinobi has ended, Boruto doesnt deny such claim. Only that regardless he is still a shinobi.

3) The talks of chakra curvature & Kaguyas dimension (NV) having a level of 16 when beyond 10 is already abnormal. Followed by a mention of tears in kaguyas dimension because of it. Followed by a scene of the space time on the moon literally beginning to crack. (Toneri has been stalling whatever this occurence is apparently)

This leads me to believe that Boruto and Kawaki's clash is much like Naruto and Sasuke's with having the same goal but different means.

The whole "did it really have to come to this, kawaki?" makes me believe shinobi and chakra had to be wiped out to perserve the dimension. Chakra was overflowing or some concept like that. Boruto being Narutos son had been seeking a way to save the dimension without ending shinobi life but Kawaki found it futile and decided to do what had to be done. of course its more detailed than just killing shinobi, it may include completely destroying the infrastructure and system like Sasuke had planned. Then theres the kote devices which push the agenda of shinobi being extinct, the scientist was under control to promote them in such a way so who knows.

Its a bit of a messy explanation but I hope im making a clear point. Its just a speculation that I find more intriguing then just Kawaki killing ninja for revenge, power or in the name of ootsusuki & this show after all is about how NV will progress with this new era of peace and technological advances.

All in all, I feel like kawaki will be a anti hero like Sasuke.

Maybe Kawaki otstsuki and his family were watching teh events in teh narutoverse from afar and became frustrated with naruto's solution to "world peace"....teh chunin exam is a substitute for war, with kids used as teh props instead....

You must be registered for see images

was it a coincidence that momo+kinshiki attacked during teh exam itself??? maybe they were frustrated with naruto's phony version of peace....

The only thing we know is both of them seem pretty powerful at that point, and that kawaki has been on this path for some time, so hopefully we'll see multiple fights

So you're pretty much saying.

The Boruto manga should go weekly.

I found something similar to jougan- Jōgan. So.. this is an era in japanese history called "Jōgan era" which starts with the death of the emperor which is followed by massive destruction by volcano eruption and later- earthquake and tsunami. If we assume Naruto is dead and seeing the condition of the village in the first episode...maybe thats why they chose this name. That is just my theory for the roots of the name of this doujutsu. Also...I know its not really rational but said period lasted 19 years so my prediction is that boruto will be 19 years old when kawaki destroys the village or whatever has happened in the future. That would mean 7 years gap between momoshiki and kinshiki and the future event so its not really likely, but maybe... just maybe.. if he went on a journey for a few years, for example with sasuke...

I made quite a research about this period, but didnt find anything relatable to boruto except that there were 2 emperors during this era. The first was good(didnt find anything bad about him) and the second actually is emperor from the next era Gangyō so now it kinda makes more sense. The connection I tried to make isnt that they are fighting over the outcome of the new era, but rather they are fighting for the era they believe in- like shinobi era vs non-shinobi era.

Comparison between boruto beginning of episode/chapter 1 and Jōgan era

So....destruction-CHECK

Dead previous leader (Naruto) - TBA

End of the previous era(era of shinobi)- CHECK

Two individuals whose actions will decide the outcome of the new era-CHECK

One of those individuals is good and retired by choice(rogue ninja maybe?) and the other one is bad and will be taken down by force-TBA
