Kishi made the whole uzumaki background as a clan etc for naruto not the other way around.

I know he made them a clan. He just did not eleborate them enough. He just connected them to senju to make us believe Naruto is like the senju. In the end he did not need it since Kishi never tried to explain there history.

This kinda reminds me of how Goku came to Earth, getting his head smacked into a rock. Forgetting he is a sayain.
