Concerning the chakra chains, I was wondering whether the technique was a Kekke Genkai or simply a Hidden Jutsu of the Uzumaki.

It's obvious that this technique is exclusive to Uzumakis but if it were simply a hidden technique (like the Nara's Shadow possession or Akimichi expansion jutsu) then anyone would be able to learn it; like how Minato learned Hidden Sealing jutsu of the Uzumaki from Kushina.

I'm thinking it's a Kekke Genkai, only because if the Uzumaki were wiped out, there'd be no one to teach it to Karin. However, as a bloodline limit, she could have well discovered it by herself, like Haku did in part 1.

What do you all think?

It's probably bloodline related. Maybe it's gender related in addition to bloodline and that's why Naruto/Nagato could not use it.

Well I always had hypothesis that certain individuals were 'special' in the Uzumaki clan and Kushina being one was chosen to be Kurama's host (She said she among her clan had specially strong chakra) .... It seems like Karin might be one too.

How is Obito able to use them though.
That is from the Gedo Mazo, even Madara used them. Which again in way highlights the some kind of hidden relation between the Sage's legacy and the Uzumaki Clan.

I'm not really seeing the difference between special individuals and a kekke genkai.

The consensus seems to be that the chains are the Uzumaki's. And I believe that not everyone in a clan can unlock the kekje genkai, only some. Doesnt that just make them special individuals? I still think it's a kekke genkai by definition.
