No they don't sage mode sensing is automatic it is almost like spider-sense. Karin's sensory abilities are far from natural, it is a hiden technique called minds eye of kagura, this means in theory anyone could learn it. And since it is a technique it means she must mold chakra to use it.
Naruto was able to sense sasuke from a different dimension easily, he could sense limbo clones even when they were from a different plane, he could sense past barriers and could sense an entire war with over 100,000 different shinobi and zetsu clones and still identify them based on gender, species and populations over vast distances.
Karins sensing abilities only go slightly over 10 km, she is below naruto and obito when it comes to sensing.

Sasuke only sensed naruto when his clone appeared in the same desert dimension as sasuke, naruto could sense sasuke who was in the desert dimension from the ice dimension
Naruto clone never got to the desert dimension :| Zetsu even pointed out that it was the resonance of the seals

All sensors use their sensing in different ways. Karin has the most advanced version of the typical sensing. However, the likes of Tobirama is able to sense the difference between clan chakra, and Madara is shown to be able to use sensing actively in a fight.
Naruto was able to sense through the deceptive transformation technique of white Zetsu, something NO other sensor would have been capable of. This alone puts him above Karin because she senses things for the way they are, whereas Naruto senses their intent in relation to others.

is shown getting the memories from the clown being transferred to him. Sasuke only sensed naruto when the clone appeared in the dimension, he never mentioned sensing naruto before then. BZ has no idea how good naruto's sensory perception is so you can't take his estimations highly given how naruto constantly surprised him and kaguya during the fight :|Sasuke sensed Naruto when he made it to the core dimension which was connected to his own.

The BEST sensory ninja and she doesn't appear in the the last 2 chapters. What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.
She does because she needs to activate the technique. Like I said before her sensing ability (minds eye of kagura) is a technique, it needs to be activated for it to be used. She just very capable with the technique that she can activate it instantly, but the fact that the technique needs to be activated means molding of chakra is necessary.

Sasuke said for an instant meaning he could only sense naruto when he appeared in the core dimension.
