I like kankuro. Why didn't he take those puppets with white coats (the 10 that monzaemon the first puppeteer owned) that chiyo used and the 3rd kazekage along with sasori's body? They looked powerful and if he had those white 10, sasori, the 3rd kazekage and (hell he could have even taken a page from chiyo and made puppet arms)his usual puppets he would move up at least a tier. He's mid jounin right now if he had all the things I listed I think he could be low kage when he got older. I think he could have repaired any of the puppets that got broken in the fight.

It being a summoning doesn't mean he can't take the scroll after chiyo sacrificed herself. I don't think it would be disrespectful chiyo was hard core and wanted the ninja of her village to be strong. He won't progress because he's at most a secondary character and the story is wrapping up that doesn't mean he lacks the potential to learn top tier puppetry techniques. He's only 18 I'm aware sasori accomplished much more by 15 but it seems like sasori entrusted him with the future if puppetry. If the story involved him more he'd be=< sasori when kankuro's full potential is realized.
