Kamui?

Can someone explain to me how Kamui works? and how Kakashi and Tobi's are connected? Please

I made this thread before it was explicitly explained that Tobi's jutsu and kamui were the same thing, but it still provides a pretty good explanation about how it works:

kakashi used kamui to warp things away into another dimension. he did that opening a small hole into our dimension and warped thing in there( deidaras arm/explosion, the nail which was thrown at him by pain and the rocket, sasukes arrow etc) since his eye used to be obitos it is connected to the other eye( meaning to tobis sharingan) whenever something is about to hit tobi he removes that part of his body to the other dimension( which is where also kakashi sent things) thats why when he dodged naruto he got hit by the flying kunai which was warped away earlier by kakashi..sounds pretty confusing but it actually isnt^^ hope i could help

imo i think tobi simply uses a very advanced or a different version of kakashis kamui...meaning he can use it on his own body etc. another theory is that hes eye has more of a defensiv power while kakashis eye is more of an offensive kind

So.. Kamui can send other people's body parts to a different dimension and effect them in Reality am i right?
