Introduction:
After some speculation in a particular Kakashi vs Danzo thread, the question of whether or not Kamui would be quick enough to counter or prohibit the activation of Kotoamatsukami (which I will call KA further in the thread).

Or to simplify, if Kakashi and Danzo were in a stare-down and both made the *intent* of activating their respective mangekyou's, who would prosper? Would Kamui activate before Kotoamatsukami?

Instances of Kamui:

To be fair, I will use examples later in the manga of when Kakashi became more adept in handling his Kamui, particularly during/post Pain Invasion Arc.

Against Deva Path
Here, Kakashi is fairly close to Deva Path (I'd say 20ft, but I'm not a yard stick.)

And, with a second, at best, Deva Path nails him. Literally. Or at least it seems to be, since Kakashi Kamui'd the small but fast nail.

Against Sasuke
Here, Sasuke flings the arrows of doom at him with incredible velocity but at a longer range than Deva Path did. Kakashi noms it with Kamui by the skin of his teeth.
Against Gedo Mazou
Here, Kakashi tries to Kamui something larger than a nail or an arrow, a head of a statue...vessel...thing.

Although he does fail, it is notable that Kakashi did not Kamui Gedo's head as fast as he did the nail or arrow. From this, it could be implied that Kamui'ing larger things take a greater amount of time.

Instances of Kotoamatsukami:
Against Itachi
Before it is activated, Amaterasu is sensed by Nagato. Upon finally activating it, KA activates at the same instance.

After activation of KA, Amaterasu NEGATES.

Against Mifune
As much as it pains me to give so many examples for Kamui and only one for KA, the only other time it was used (against Mifune) cannot be used as a good source in this argument, as there is no confirmed time for KA's activation in this instance.

MY CONCLUSION: (TL;DR)
As speedy as Kamui can prove to be, I believe that in most or all instances, KA would negate the activation of Kamui and successfully be used against Kakashi.

But it could be said that it was the crow using KA and not Danzo, therefore using this example in his defense is biased. Forgive me, Kishi didn't give us a clear activation time for KA when Danzo used it. :(

Thank you for reading. I welcome debate and opinions.

I'd say KA. Because from what you have shown, it seems to take effect as soon as it catches you eye. Kamui wouldnt be able to connect quick enough.

Yeah, says a Kakashi fan ;) Can you explain why?

If both are used at the same time, KA would effect kakashi, But it won't stop the kamui from warping the Ka user away, Not in time anyway.

Kakashi has already proven he can warp things pretty fast, So the Ka user simply won't have enough time to Gain controll of kakashi's mind and stop kamui quick enough.

But KA has been shown to negate mangekyou's. Kamui will most likely be negated if it confronts KA.

And regarding Kamui's speed, the size of the target matters.

KA takes effect immediately the eyes meet, but kamui has to form a black hole then suck the target in. Givin it to kA

Although I agree with the conclusion, KA doesn't necessarily need the eyes to meet.

How does Ka "Negate" other mangeokyou's?
