Hashirama has mokuton and can easily cover himself to let the mokuton get absorbed into the other dimension. Hashirama uses external techniques(his mokuton comes from the ground and he can use it even if he is getting absorbed) and can easily block himself from sight or bind the user of kamui. I thought this was obvious.

Hashirama can counter kamui instantly. If he could fight on par with ems madara, then it means that hashirama has the speed to fight sharingan user. His mokuton should be nearly instant and able to block kamui.
