Just read again those chapters when kakuzu was the main antagonist, you'll se.

He's underrated quite a bit, the OP is right in the sense if you re-read his arc, it gives off an air of a character which is indeed fearsome.

His feats, hype of surviving against Hashirama, his speed/strength and abilities make it difficult for him to have a bad match up.
