Kakuzu Financing Akatsuki

Where does the manga, databook, whatever say that Kakuzu financed Akatsuki? I would think Kakuzu is too greedy to give enough money to finance the BEST MERCENARY ORGANIZATION IN THE WORLD.

It was explicitly mentioned in the anime when Kakuza brought in Asuma's dead friend for the bounty. Also, he may have been financing the "best merc. org.", but it's really only a handful of people that don't need a ton of money. A few big name bounties would and did cover them.

I believe Akatsuki gained most of their money by being hired as mercenaries, as it was stated several Kages hired them at one point or another at the Kage Summit

^This. Kakuza did not independently finance Akatsuki. However he was in charge of finances, I believe.
