good answer. Yes, genjutsu are ninja techniques that effect the senses of another ninja. you forcibly inject your chakra into thier nervous system and cause the ninja to eaither see illusions, or cause pain.
no on to part two of the introduction of genjutsu. Escaping O_O in order to fully understand genjutsu you need to know what it feels like to be in it. you have to know that you are in it and know what to do next.

now, tell me multiple ways to escape. I'm looking for 3 ways to escape.

Wel first way is Genjutsu release, something we can only use once in a battle and only max to B-lvl genjutsu. It's based on just stopping your own chakra flow and then overpower the disruption made by the opponents chakra.
The second way is that someone else does this, by inserting their chakra into you.
Third is the EMO-way, hurt yourself O_O
Well considering that I'm binded by a tree, it's pretty impossible to hurt myself -_-'
As I don't have a partner with me that option is not possible and genjutsu release doesn't work on tree binding >.<
Then this is my only option *brings head as far as possible forwards and then gives a reversed headbutt on the tree*

oh and a few points to know before we continue. for most genjutsu, seals are required, except for sharingan ( but that is not the case for us =/ )
also, its best if the target is short to mid ranged and direct line of sight is generally required (you have to know where the person is)

This flower petal technique is a Genjutsu utilized by the Leaf Jounin Yuuhi Kurenai. If the user comes under attack, they can use this technique to cover her escape. After forming the needed hand seals, the user's body will disperse into a shower of flower petals. These petals will confuse and distract her opponent while the user escapes or hides.

I grab the kunai with my teeth, forcing chakra in my tongue and shoot it back at you...na I'm just kidding
*when the raiton comes, I force chakra in my palms and thrust myself backwards by slamming the ground. That jutsu only works short range* during the time that the kunai is underway, I preformed the necessary handseals and use:

This is the same thing on a grander scale. multiple servants in the form of you. They look like they are really attackers, but do not really attack. you have to attack for them.

THIS IS THE NEXT ONE. KAKASHI USED THIS ON SAKURA DURING THE BELL TEST TO SEE A MORTALLY WOUNDED SASUKE (sorry capslock -_-) anyway
the user will see a whirlwind of leaves and see's something horrific,(thier version of hell) and the shock, or possiby the genjutsu itself causes them to pass out.
the trick for this is to figure out what the opponent views as hell
