Is it possible that the reason Kakashi never takes his mask off is because he can make it intangible, thus allowing him to both eat and drink while wearing the mask all the time?

Dont think so. The ramen guy's daughter fell in love with Kakashi after he took off his mask to eat. She said he looked hansome.
