Allot of people have high expectations for what kakashi looks like, if he reveals it then it might disappoint people. He's letting out imagination do the work, some people will think he's but ugly other will think's he's gorgeous looking, either way everyone is happy with what they expect him to look like because aren't wrong.

Best to keep his looks withing the imagination of the viewers that way everyone is happy and there is no upset people because kakahi didn't met their expectations
